Re: Exploding lines. Anyone had this happen? (picture in post)

Electrical current will damage kite lines so they break like that. You'd probably know about it if you had put your kite over power-lines though :-)

Re: How hackers invented kiteboarding - The New Yorker

Just curious, is there anyone here who has been airlifted hundreds of feet into the air using the original kite equipment without depower? This is the first really big lofting I remember seeing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dd8vT1KR4RE We used to dread this happening, early kites were not stable...

Re: climate change / unpredictable weather/wind

A different example of how things are complicated, vehicle emmissions. Are you aware that you can't reduce C02 (climate change) and particulates (pollution)? It's a trade off to a degree. So if you want to reduce pollution (you seem to be keen on this) then you will increase the C02 emmissions and ...

Re: climate change / unpredictable weather/wind

You get your information from YouTube videos, I prefer peer-reviewed scientific literature. The consensus among research scientists on anthropogenic global warming has grown to 100%, based on a review of 11,602 peer-reviewed articles on “climate change” and “global warming” published in the first 7 ...

Re: climate change / unpredictable weather/wind

Modern environmentalism is actually about smart growth that increases efficiency rather than reducing it. The Heathrow example is a case in point. Once Paris Agreement targets are written into law, governments are obliged to meet them. A third runway can still yet go ahead, but only if results in a ...

Re: Reedin kite ads doubled lines

Six line kites were a thing ten years ago.
You could stick a pulley on the kite with this setup and have 2:1 depower 😉

Re: climate change / unpredictable weather/wind

It is not bigoted to listen only to those who know what they are talking about. This is called filtering and is a rational response to today's world where there is no much misinformation. For climate science there is the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), whose role is to distill the ...
