Re: wainman 3.1 9m (2016) any opinions?

I would not recommend this kite. I had the 9M for many years. It works for a beginner since high performance is not important. But for more performance (ie. fast turning, jump higher), there are better kites. I'd recommend Naish or Reedin. Everyone has their preference but I at least won't recommend...

Is Boracay actually a good kite spot?

Hi guys,

I see reports of Boracay being windy but doesn't seem like crazy windy like Brasil, Maui, Cape Town. I see they have 2 windy seasons.

Anyhow, is it a windy spot? What size kites and %? Looking to go from August to March. :D

Re: My experience kiting in Colombia for almost 3 months

I wouldn't want to spend 3 months at Santa Veronica. A longer trip to Colombia, for me, would require visiting other parts of the country away from kiting spots. Colombia is going through another period of political unrest at the minute - not sure how that will play out over the longer term. Thanks...

Re: My experience kiting in Colombia for almost 3 months

Sick report! When is their wind season? Also how's the food and culture (local)? Did you get bored being there for 3 months. Kiting everyday and then what to do when not kiting...?

Re: Drift launch - running out lines.

Check this video for the perfect technique. It shows 2 ways. The first way is standard - walking the kite into the water without lines on the bar. The alternative method is with bar. You see the alternative method, the lines are going slack down wind. They have a tiny bit of tension. You do not want...

Re: Drift launch - running out lines.

Umm...I suggest *never* unwinding lines in the water. Easy to wrap and have zero control over looping kite. My old local spot requires a drift launch 100% of the time in the water. We just rig out the kite, clip bar into the harness, and walk our kite out to the water. The lines are slack creating a...

Hi guys

Where is the best wind for Sept to May? Somewhere other than Cape Town (too cold).

Re: Straps instead of footpads

I feel you. I have flat and narrow feet. All the footstraps I've tried are wayyyy too wide and also the arch is too high. I switched to boots long time ago for this reason. In terms of DIYing your own pad/strap setup, if you have to (ie. dont want to ride boos), then go for it. I love riding thin de...

Re: Load & pop on a Jimmy Lewis TT

I recently got my pops down and noticed you mentioned ollies. When I was working on learning to pop, I finally realized I was originally trying to ollie and mistaking the spray as an Ollie push down (like a snowboard) rather than simply carving the board hard across the wind and the line tension pu...

Hi Toby,

I'm 135lb (65kg) and the board is a 139. I ride it with boots on a 6 or 8m. Maui.

All other variables being constant, do you think the board has something to do with it? Or is it just technique (ride faster, edge harder)?
