Re: Flysurfer Soul

The problem with Flysurfer kites lately is they are trying to use very high tensile strength lines but very thin lines to minimize turning drag. The problem with these lines is very poor abrasion resistance. The other problem in the US is the distributor for FS doesn't give a crap about customers. T...

Re: Is Element 6 good for inland gusty conditions?

I have a quiver of them & use them mostly in snow. Very smooth turning kite but not the most powerful turns. Flies & behaves a lot like a SS rally in my opinion. Relaunches well. Boosts pretty decent. It's 5 strut so my experience in gusty conditions has been really good at handling gusts. I kite in...

Juneau, AK

There's a chance I'll be working out of Juneau soon with 2 week on/2off schedule. Really hoping to spend time exploring the various icefields & areas near Juneau. I know its vast & the scale is beyond anything I can imagine .... yet. Typically does a person fly in & get dropped off? I've read a bit ...

Switch kites in general
+1

Helium kites have also been a huge ++. For their pricing customer service has been exceptional when needed(only 1x so far). Some previous models have been lackluster for performance but great for durability. Now I think they have both for the types of riding I do.

Re: Core and German engineering meme

I skimmed through this thread and the other Core thread this morning. As it affects my purchasing decisions, I have two main takeaways: 1. The sample size of complaints about Core products is too small for me to conclude that they are generally poorly made, but it’s absurd for a kite manufacturer t...

Re: kite friendly airline

Between American and United to Mexico, which is more accommodating for for a "golf bag"? Thanks If in the US or Baja always fly Alaska if possible. By far the most kiter friendly airline & generally friendly-er overall. No need to lie about whats in the bag. I guess Virgin Airlines is very similar

Re: Is anyone else buying carbon credits to offset CO2 from travel?

I tried to read a bit of this thread, but the USA element of climate change deniers, God Botherers and other weak minded morons left me with the feeling we're fucked whichever way you look at it. I've been around a while, managed to survive, despite the nuclear tests in the fifties and sixties but ...

Re: What a wind Forcast - Hurricane Florence

Fortunately for the US we have spectacular access to information & communication. I think that's a huge difference maker in the human loss factor. I hope everyone in NC, SC, & S. VA are scampering out like they should be. The most devastating hurricane that's ever hit NC was Hazel, 1956. Only Cat4 ....

Re: Core and German engineering meme

Every single kite brand has their issues. When I first started kiting, I expected brand support but quickly found that it was minimal especially for consumables like bars and lines. Thats when my focus changed from complaining about it to doing something. None of the gear I use today is standard ma...
