Re: GoPro line mounts

The oval shape lets me put the lines farther apart, so I can move the camera farther from me without so much bending of the lines. I also just had the idea of putting foam in those large spaces so it would float. I have HDPE coming in Wednesday. Not sure I would benefit from floaters unless I tie t...

Re: GoPro line mounts

Great work! Going with the oval shape? Maybe I'll try that again. I was also thinking of making the line holes angled: \ / instead of | | That may put less wear on the lines and keep the camera angle straight.

Re: GoPro Hero 8 about to release?

I meant cutting not printing with a CNC router. I think I may just design my own, using some of your ideas. I may need to make the GoPro tabs separately, drill the holes, then hot glue everything together. I got to use my Max for the first time today in a U-Go mount. I have to have the Max a bit cr...

Re: GoPro Hero 8 about to release?

That looks like a really good design. It looks, aside from the hole in the side for a screwdriver and the tubes, like something I could cut on my CNC machine instead of printing it. I'm thinking HDPE. I could use carbon tubes for the lines, and install them after cutting, and I am thinking of some ...

Re: GoPro Hero 8 about to release?

Brain fart. Do I really need those long ass tubes? Sending this to the printer right now. Might get rid of them completely and print an angled rubber stopper insert that bends the line a little and prevents slippage. Perhaps not as stable as long arms but a better view? Guess I can just cut them off...

Re: GoPro Hero 8 about to release?

So I decided to rethink this last night and came up with this. Went with a round ring instead of oval. I realized I keep going back to the line tabs... WHY?! Ok, I'll be honest, they look COOLER! :D But they only create problems in this design by adding openings to snag on. In order to avoid any sna...

Re: GoPro Hero 8 about to release?

BTW, I love norcom's design for the Max. That ring looks like it ought to work very well to prevent the lines from getting fouled on the mount. :D Thanks! Unfortunately every prototype I make and break reminds me that I don't really know what I'm doing. I'm worried that on the ring design the verti...

Re: Insta one x 360 venture case linemount availability

Some interesting results on the nylon prints after a few days. Did a test print of the basic mount and right after the print it seemed very brittle but after a couple of days the nylon is A LOT more resilient. I think the nylon prints need to absorb some moisture after they're printed. I found some ...

Re: Insta one x 360 venture case linemount availability

Damn. Decided to test how much strength/flex the mount has and it's not good. :( The angled line mounts are a definite no, the top arms were the first to snap at the angle. The lower line arm to body snapped next. The oval ring and camera bracket are pretty sturdy. I'll try printing this in polycarb...

Re: Insta one x 360 venture case linemount availability

Made a few more changes on the Max mount and was instantly reminded me why I'm not a design engineer. :D The idea creating a stiffer GoPro mount area made me realize the reason they're usually supported only on one side is because they NEED TO BEND in order to tighten around the insert. Making it co...
