Re: The lightest snappiest surfboard for overhead waves?

Interesting that you'd want a lighter board for overhead waves. I'm the opposite, when it gets big, it means it's fast (mostly). If it's fast, and windy, it's choppy. In that situation I'd prefer a heavier board, but not too much volume on a kite, something that wouldn't be anxious under my feet. Ha...

Re: 2017 Cabrinha Surfboards Fin Sets

It does look weak. But, just like NorCalNomad wrote, if you're somewhere remote and only have a fcs fin available, it could get you back out on the water until you can find a decent replacement fin/set.
Thanks for testing it out and sharing the info NorCalNomad.

Re: 2017 Cabrinha Surfboards Fin Sets

Tried a premium Futures fin with hollow base. Futures fit fine in the box but don't hold them in place. I tightened the screws slightly more than I would normally. Screws were sticking out of the board a bit - not too fussy about it but still and indication it's not a great fit I applied not too muc...

Re: 2017 Cabrinha Surfboards Fin Sets

I don't have any non FCSII fins at home, so can't really confirm. I would lean towards "not compatible", but the position of screws looks very on spot. But then more than half of the plug would be void. I wouldn't be comfortable fitting the old FCS fin system into this multibox plug anyway. I'll hav...

Re: 2017 Cabrinha Surfboards Fin Sets

Thanks. I was planning on taking the board with me to the shop to test, yes. It'd be quite frustrating bringing 'em home just to see the void in the fins' base does not allow the screws to fix the fins in place.

2017 Cabrinha Surfboards Fin Sets

Been riding my 2017 Cabrinha Spade this afternoon and unfortunately hit a rocky reef/rock with the left fin. The fin got torn out of the fin box (and sank) but fortunately the fin box and screws seem to be okay. I have looked around for a Futures replacement but it seems as if Cabrinha changed the f...

Re: Slingshot Screamer X Cabrinha Spade

I can only comment on the Spade 5'6" as I just recently got it. I can compare it to DHD Ben Wilson's White noise 5'11". It feels much stronger (obviously) and it rides pretty good. The thinner rails do make a huge difference. Jumping over chop and throwing it around feels much better on the Spade du...

Re: Anybody got a good bag for surfboard?

Got a Flying Objects Surf Roller bag. Stuffed Firewire 5'6", dismantled twintip, pads for twintip, and 4 kites (9m, 9m, 7m, 7m) in it. No extra padding added, not even surfboard sock or anything. I just stacked that s**t. Flew Virgin Australia from Melb to Perth and back. No damage. Luck? Maybe. Tou...

Re: Cabrinha 9m/11m drifter or switchblade 10m?

its that simple. freeride/freestyle and some waves - SB Mostly surf but want to ride some twintip - Drifter I second that. If you want to jump high, go with SB. I ride 2015 drifters on a strapless surfboard. I took my gfs twintip out yesterday and wanted to boost. Wasn't really impressed with the a...

Re: FireWire hellrazor and hellfire

I'm 180cm and 78kg, riding Hellfire 5'6". I ride it strapless and I find it hard to get it off the water and control it in the jump (if/when that even happens). Once on a wave with minimal or no pull from the kite, it's a nice cruisy ride in thruster config. But I am seriously considering a narrower...
