Re: climate change / unpredictable weather/wind

... the climate will not cool until the volume of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere reduce. I am by no means an expert on this but are you not discounting the impact that the sun has on the temperature / weather on this planet and the fact that greenhouse gases have no impact on its output? Solar ...

Re: Found my relic Flexifoil Blade II 6.4m in the attic-looking for flying advice

Ah ha well my flecks are red and blue but i thought the red flecks were thicker so i think that confirms. So think i have attached the brake lines to the mains whoops. Will check when the weather improves here, thanks alot all! If you attached the brakes to the power leaders and flew the kite they ...

Re: Found my relic Flexifoil Blade II 6.4m in the attic-looking for flying advice

You don’t need two people. You do need to remove the lines from the handles and the kite. Stake the lines down to some immovable object (fence post, ground stake, trailer hook, etc.) and then walk the lines out and see where all the ends terminate. Ideally they are all equal but if they are off by a...

Re: Found my relic Flexifoil Blade II 6.4m in the attic-looking for flying advice

At the handle end i would only be able to add knots closer to the handle on the main line leaders to make those shorter and thus equivalent to shortening the brake lines . To be clear, you do NOT want to shorten the brake lines. You want to shorten the power lines. But as Herman said, check the 4 k...

Re: Found my relic Flexifoil Blade II 6.4m in the attic-looking for flying advice

I didn't consider line stretch / shrinkage. If the brake lines aren't the same length as the power lines you may not even have to untie/unstitch them. The brakes are probably 200 or 250# lines. You can likely re-equalize those by manually stretching them if the opposite side is affixed to something ...

Re: Found my relic Flexifoil Blade II 6.4m in the attic-looking for flying advice

It's a personal thing based on how long the handles are, their angle and how you hold them. You want to lengthen the brake leader. If your leaders have multiple knots in them like Pic 3 then the brake line would be fastened to the knot closest to the kite and the power lines fastened to the knot clo...

Re: Found my relic Flexifoil Blade II 6.4m in the attic-looking for flying advice

I concur with Herman. Even if you are pointing the bottom of the handles towards the kite, the brake lines are still too tight. You either need to add a pigtail to the brake leader and extend the brakelines on the handle side (if they can’t be extended on the kite side – I know Blade 3s came with re...

Re: climate change / unpredictable weather/wind

My core concern is for all species. True dat. Which of the hundred or so species lost today were you most distraught over? Regardless of which side of the argument one falls, can all beach goers in at least North America agree that if the Piping Plover went extinct we'd all be better off? :w...
