Re: getting up on foil wing foiling

I use the same board that Nick is using (SurfMachine 5’1” x 26” x 4.75”, 90l, 12#, Full Inegra construction). Unlike Nick, I’m a spazzy, slow learning 62 yr old with bad knees at 169#. This is an awesome second wing board if you want to start conservative, or you’re big. Great first board if you’re ...

PS if you look at the Naish video of them jumping it, it hardly deforms under the strain.
Quite a contrast to the V1 Naish wing that was a one-size-fits-all floppy noodle....The sport/technology is progressing quickly :D

Re: The Duotone Wing

I’m hearing the the echo wings will show up towards the end of April, but the booms are delayed due to Corona factory shutdowns. Who knows if that’s really true or not given all the current chaos. I guess the current booms don’t work with the echo’s. Of course by then the world might be entering a f...

Re: Toby, no wingfoil forum?

I deducted the number of forums, don’t want to increase. There are only few wing foil topics, which fit fine into hydrofoil, since it’s the same board anyway. So you might want to think about getting rid of that hardly viewed topic “airstyle” since the main forum covers it anyway. Oh wait, that’s y...

Re: Wingfoil boom or handles?

I think I am going to sell mine by the way as going back to 100% kiting for many reasons. But if I ever will be on a spot with nice waves I am happy to now know how to handle wingfoils Horst, So why are you going back to 100% kiting?? Especially since you already have the gear and skills?? Been usi...

Re: Wingsurf/wingfoil, foilwing size

To Kitefoil or Wingfoil has been occupying my mind lately. I can Kitefoil well and also sell Wingfoil gear so I have access to both but haven't pursued the Wingfoil to any degree. Today I was out kitefoiling on an Axis 110cm Tray/Moses 633 combo with a 5m Peak4 kite in 10-12 knots comfortably power...

Re: Wingsurf/wingfoil, foilwing size

Gunnar is exactly right. Volume is just one, but very effective way of describing profile or thickness of the foil. Axis and Gong both quote volume. My first wing foil was a regular Gong XL at 1844 sq cm (projected) and 3.6 liter volume. It worked, but felt slow and draggy. As soon as I got on the G...

Re: Wingsurf/wingfoil, foilwing size

Hey Peter, Time to quit pontificating and just get some gear and go for it!! :D If you want a decent performing low cost foil just to give it a try, I’d highly recommend the Gong XL pro with the basic 80cm Al mast. It’s 1900 sq cm with reasonably high aspect ratio and low profile (wide speed range a...

Re: Bars with a long depower throw (60 cm)?

Thanks Decay. That would be a perfect bar for foiling. Just like Reider said, set the depower level before you ride and never touch it while riding. The one gripe I have about this Ultra bar is if it’s ultra simple without the added trim strap depower components why isn’t selling at a price less tha...
