Solution for the video situation: try pulling lines alternately. A steering line, frontlines, wait for the wind to turn it.

Even an inverted kite can be flown back to the beach.

i cannot imagine any instructor telling you to tie yourself in to the 5th line. would anyone here go out in any conditions with no means of releasing the kite, especially in 30-40 mph winds?. somewhat related, early this spring, a storm came in and i quickly headed to shore, but no one else was aro...

Flagging is an outdated term. Modern kites don't flag, except for some C's and non-inflatables. But even Flysurfer now has a 5th line.
Kites keep their shape largely, so keep pulling and sometimes looping, if they're not in 5th-line (smile) position.

I have seen it happen, not just on Best kites, but also Cabrinha, North and others.
Sometimes even when it was leashed on a frontline. On a steering line, it's very dangerous.

Ofcourse it will lose its shape a little, but holding it on a steering line in strong wind will normally result in uncontrollable pull. Except when it's not pumped well.
