Re: Cabrinha Switchblade 2013 vs 2019

These are my similar thoughts. I owned two 14m Switchblades and they felt slow and heavy. A 12m would be suitable for your weight. The Contra 13/15 for light winds are excellent. Owned a number of these over the years too. I personally did not think the 2013 year for Switchblades was a good design. ...

Yes Scoopz, it is interesting about Nike and Teijin and Aluula developments. I guess we will find out more soon.

Re: GPS watch for Kiteboarding

I agree with you fernmannus. The apple watch 5 is ideal for kiting, but yes the screen scratches very easily. I must admit I did not realise that i was buying the watch with the cheaper screen. My 4 year old suunto with sapphire glass that I have worn also has no scratches to the glass. I would advi...

Re: Trying to understand kite quiver

I found this an interesting topic. I have built a quiver over the years (as you do) and I keep records on my sessions. Kite size, wind range, time etc. From the last 3 years, for example, I have found that in my kite spots I use my kites as follows: 8m 1%, 10m 7%, 11m 12%, 12m 33%, 15m 30%, 17M 10% ...

Re: Advice on fixing pinholes on canopy

I would not recommend any glue. Just get a small piece of Tear-Aid Type A, Cut two small circles of Tear Aid, no straight edges with sharp scissors. Clean the canopy on both sides with an alcohol wipe, then place the small patch on both sides of the canopy covering the pinhole....done.

Re: Cabrinha valve trap install.

I have done a few of these. I simply peel the valve off in room temperature very gently and slowly off the bladder. Just do it slowly and it should come off. Then clean both the surfaces of the valve with an alcohol wipe, stick the top of the valve first to the first section of the trap, then the ba...

Re: switchblade bar pressure

Agree Davers. I have had two Cabrinha Switchblade 14m kites over the years and found that they did not turn fast enough or perform. I then went to the Contra 3 strut 15m and this was amazing.

Re: switchblade bar pressure

Mitaka, I think covered this off in 2017 quite well using a Cabrinha example. Bar pressure is: 1 The force needed to keep the kite and certain angle of attack when kiting. 2.The force needed to turn the kite. Light bar pressure means less force needed. Changing the bar pressure with different wingti...
