Re: Flysurfer Soul

As far as I know Flysurfer has never updated kites on a yearly basis. Soul V2 could be a long way away, the current version is pretty bloody good.

Re: Flysurfer Soul

Hi foilholio, I run 15 mtr lines on the 12 Soul. And when I say multiple transitions I mean a jibe every 10-20 mtrs as you ride the wind swell downwind, the soul just doesn’t keep up. I would rather have a quiver of foils but after experimenting I found they just weren’t suited to this riding style.

Re: Flysurfer Soul

I own the 12 Soul and use it exclusively for my race foil. Great straight line kite for going places but I really don’t like it on my surf foil. It’s very powerful, easily riding in 8 knots on a race foil but it’s slow turning, no good for the surf foil where your doing multiple transitions in quick...

Re: Flysurfer Soul

Also consider a full carbon bar. As you tend to leave the bar attached to the foil it tends not to get rinsed and corrosion under the grip becomes an issue. Happened to my old FS bar so now use carbon bars instead.

Re: Mast length....?

I use the 70 on the Naish Medium Surf wing in large bay chop. It is a very forgiving wing for breaches and the 70 gives a more connected feel to the wing.
And fitted to a pocket board the setup fits in the car with no disassembly, yep, I’m lazy.

Re: New foiler- straps setups

I have been using the setup on this board, a pocket board and now a race board and foil for the past 18 months. Never once have I become locked in during a crash, and there have been a lot.

Re: New foiler- straps setups

Similar in use and safety to a foot hook but without the breakage probems, is what we have called the mono strap. It runs across the board, from the front strap outer holes. Due to its width it allows the foot to rotate out of the strap in a crash, rather than being locked in like a dual front strap...

Re: Flysurfer Soul

Thanks Armin for your detailed reply. I think I may have found the problem. The rings are welded, so one part of the ring is not so smooth. On my kite one of the rings had this welded area under the loop/larks head. It was stuck out pointing up, rather than down like the other 3. It was also difficu...
