Re: Foilboarding Disaster

Have a spare leash on your harness, first, leash your board, then worry about relaunch. I use an old wrist leash with a hook at each end, just hooks to one side and goes around you back, you never notice it. You need a loop on your board, just hook on and forget it or sit on it, either way your boar...

Re: Flysurfer Soul

Kristen, I am in a similar funk re: my brand new Soul. I am a competent foil boarder, all Clouds for years. But on almost every transition smooth toe or healside carve I'm coming out of the turn with a ton of too much juice. I've found some relief in reaching up grabbing a float and pivoting the kit...

Re: the art of the loop!

An easier option with the Soul is to backstall it till close to the water, let the lines go and let it accelerate upwards, lifting you onto the board. Haven’t tried it on a LEI but it works well on a foil kite.

Re: 12 vs 15m for Marginal

At 80 kg the 12 Soul is enough for the light stuff, you will only need a 15 if on a racefoil, and then only for off the wind. Though I don’t like the 12 Soul on the big surf wing, too much power and too slow, the 10 would probably be a better option.

My gauge melted, well the plastic under the needle warped so didn’t work anymore. Keep it out of direct sun.

Re: Levitaz bionic vs Moses Comet?

The Bionic with the larger rear stab is much easier to ride. I bought one secondhand with the old gul wing, very hard to ride. The new rear stab makes it a pleasure to ride, though the short race fuselage is a challenge to start with but it gets through chop so easily. The Comet has an alloy fuselag...

Re: New to Foil Kiting... Harness?

Yep +1 for the Vega for foiling, good value. Still use a waist harness for surfboard.

Re: Tiny o-rings on flysurfer lines

Try a fishing tackle shop, they sell solid stainless rings about the right size.

Re: Buying advice for a beginner

Naish in Oz allow you to build a foil to suit yourself. We have a few guys who have learnt on the 70 mast, abracadabra mount, medium surf wing and KS stab. Some have tried the current KS wing but prefer the stability of the medium surf which is 1000 sq cm. Personally I use the medium surf on a 90 ma...
