I was thinking of laying the board down on a flat surface, on a piece of that plastic that the resin doesn't stick to, and just shaping the epoxied rope around the edge of the board, then putting another piece of plastic over the top of it and hopefully, getting a rail out of it.

Plastic for expoxy/fibreglass lay up?

I've seen the sheets of plastic for layup in the supply store, but I'm wondering if I can just use a piece of 5 ml (heavy) plastic sheeting? I'm thinking… Oh-oh!—since I don't have a vacuum table, about laying down the fibreglass, the plastic, and using the old lady's rolling pin to smooth it out an...

Re: 1/4" plywood door!

' ' ' Awesome board! I haven't been on here in ages, and have just been checking posts and saw yours! I'm so proud I inspired you! It's like I've given birth! Not too heavy? That 1/4" ply sheeting, what's she top out at? Rocker effect is great with the highly precise positioning of the batteries and...

Re: Epoxy'd or Fibreglass Rope for a Rail?

You'll have a hard time doing it...Not worth the time and effort. If you really, really like this idea I would suggest a thick line of FG (taken from a thick UNI FG, like 600-800g or more). But this is 3m line at least. Avast the yardarm and hoist the rudder, matey! What is FG and PU? Fibreglass and...

Epoxy'd or Fibreglass Rope for a Rail?

Can't remember if I read that somebody tried this around here, and then with my weak mind, thought I came up with this idea, but has anyone tried this approach?

Dip a thin piece of rope into some epoxy and run it around the edge of the board for a nice hard rail.

Suggestions?

Re: North Trust Depower line replacement

Sorry about taking so long to get back to you!

Did use the amsteel line replacement. Eeze Peeze.

Now, I'm gonna try the depower line as I'm having trouble locating a replacement.

I think you'll be too heavy with the dual 1/4". I used 1/8th ply, double layer and it worked well for me.

225 lbs. Lots of flex.

Here's the thread on the build.
