Re: Tampa next week

Wow, thanks for that very generous offer, but I'm back home in Toronto already. I just wanted to mention how much I liked that spot. Maybe next time :-)

Re: Tampa next week

Well I didn't bring my kite gear but I did drive over to Cypress Point Park and I have to say you guys are really lucky to have a nice place like that ... tons of free parking, clean wide sandy beach with no one there, and shallow for a huge ways out. Jealous!

Re: Tampa next week

Hmmm, well I'm thinking maybe I won't bother then since it'll probably mean an extra baggage fee for potentially nothing. Thanks for the info everyone!

Tampa next week

Hi, I am visiting Tampa next week on business. Do the winds this time of year make it worth bringing my gear? If so, will it be 9m/13m or 13m/17m weather? Lastly, I'm staying at a hotel just south of the airport. What kite spot(s) would be good to check out? I'll have a rental car but would prefer n...

Re: Tar Balls and Oil stains

I'm no expert on the subject but any oil-based liquid is bad for a kite, which itself is an oil-based product. So while kerosene and WD-40 will get the oil off, it will damage the kite over time. It may be better to use a detergent such as dish soap (or laundry soap as the other poster mentioned), w...

Re: Lube job?

I would guess that SailCoat should work well. My experience says to use Sailkote with caution. I did this to a pump and it caused a rubber o-ring to completely disintegrate. Friction went sky high until all the little bits of semi-solid rubber got sucked (or pulled) out of the pump. In spite of the...

Newbie Crossbow Quiver & Board Recommendations

Hi all, I'm new here and to the sport and am thinking about what sort of equipment to get (and yes, lessons, taken care of). I'd like to buy good, safe stuff that I won't have to upgrade from in a year or two. To that end, I'm wondering how to set up a freeriding quiver that'll get me going in the l...
