Re: The olympic pictogram representing kitesurfers

"The non compete thing was resolved without riders being banned." That doesn't make this behaviour acceptable, one that scares the pro riders away from other comps that barely make ends meet. Absolute lowlifes targeting a group of riders that had already been messed around enough. As it turns out th...

Re: The olympic pictogram representing kitesurfers

This is how World Sailing bullied their way in on kitesurfing a few years ago in order to use it for olympic funding they were about to lose. Many kitesurfers do not know this, it is good to know. Their attempt to control non racing disciplines failed miserably, but this is what they did. "Two IFKO ...

Re: The olympic pictogram representing kitesurfers

Things can change, and do change, as they have done in the past. It's currently an embarrasement to kitesurfing. Support by kitesurfers, for kitesurfers! Sailing kite kooks not welcome, vultures and leeches are not welcome in our sport They should be ashamed of threatening pro riders that could only...

Re: Board leashes are cool for wave kite??

there is no doubt they are close to getting smashed hard out in the head but it is the situation.. potential smashed head vs kite down and getting smashed in inpact zone without a board and with bad rips/sweep... there is something else- wear some neoprene even in the tropics - you dont need much to...

Re: The olympic pictogram representing kitesurfers

Kiteboarding as the olympics is concerned currently part of Sailing unfortunately, hopefully that changes between now and 2024. I am sure windsurfers were stoked with not getting their own pictogram. https://old.sportbusiness.com/sport-news/ifko-calls-ioc-intervention-kiteboarding-dispute https://ww...

Re: Do Twin tips get softer or flexier over time?

yes i think they do; however, anyone that has ridden a 12 year old twintip for example will be surprised how good it still is. I bought an old slingshot board at cashies for $29, couldnt resist at that price, i really like it. I know really good freestyle riders that have kept the same board for 5 y...

Re: Common Instructor Mistakes

An early IKO instructor (instructors course) sent to NZ couldnt actually kite (windsurfer). Before half way through the course we knew we had been fully scammed for $500 each. They had trouble getting their head around making sure the kite would flag safety while self rescuing if it powered up. " Go...

Re: Importance of a lightweight kite for non-foiling

you would be amazed how much difference kite weight makes to exactly the same shaped kite, can make them feel more powerful. heavier kites store a bit more potential energy (weighed down in back of wind window)when you start turning them through the power zone, and plus have a bit more momentum. its...
