Re: kiting Portugal / Spain in July

Thanks everyone for your feedback! I've returned from my trip and just want to share a few thoughts how things went out. First of all, because of the luggage constrains, I only took one kite with me, the 9m, and I kinda regretted afterwards. Basically, during my stay the wind was either too strong (...

Re: kiting Portugal / Spain in July

Thanks for providing the link for Guincho webcam! What time of the year were you in Santa Rita? Also, what kite size did you use? Just to echo post on guincho wind when we were there, it kicks in about noon, and would peak around 5pm to sunset. Although we didn’t kite peniche, we went there to surf....

Re: kiting Portugal / Spain in July

Here are some waves I was riding last Dec at Juno Beach, Florida. One big difference, here it's open, a huge sandy beach with no hazards on sight, whereas Guincho seems to have a relative narrow opening, surrounded by lots of rocks on both side. That gives Guincho a very small margin for errors ...

Re: kiting Portugal / Spain in July

Thanks everyone for your comments, very much appreciated! Wow, those waves at Guincho definitely deserve a lot of respect. For Guincho, is there any time in the day when the wind is not as strong e.g. around noon time or closer to sunset? My favorite kiting playground is the Caribbean / Florida, whe...

kiting Portugal / Spain in July

I'm planning a trip in Europe, and over the month of July I would be in Portugal / Spain, planning to do some kiting along the way. These are some of the places I'm considering: - south-west coast of France - northern part of Spain - Galicia, Spain - Moledo, Portugal - Viana do Castelo - Esposende -...

La Ventana in mid-April

I'm heading to La Ventana in mid-April, and wondering if anyone could comment what to expect from the wind. I understand is pretty much hit or miss, and less predictably; due to weakening of El Norte wind and relying more on thermals. For a 10 days time-frame, how many days (min/max) I can expect to...

Re: Feedback on moulded composite Fins for surfboard

Many thanks Peter, for taking the time to explain the difference between various materials! I already feel better knowing that composite is not as bad as initially thought :)

Feedback on moulded composite Fins for surfboard

My surfboard came with cheap plastic fins, so recently I've purchased the FCS K2.1 Kelly Slater Glass Flex Surfboard Fin (didn't know much what "glass" means - wrongly assuming it's fiberglass). . http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001A4H9Q8/ . However, these are not made from fiberglass, but some mo...

Re: Can the heat inside a Cargo Box damage the kite/board?

there was a thread here by a guy who measured temperatures inside one and then painted it white, remeasured. Painting it white made a huge difference. ... that was "wetstuff" if you PM him or do a search, you'll find the thread somewhere. Thanks for pointing out! Here is the previous thread on same...
