Re: Guantanamo Bay

Biking across Cuba years ago I tried to take a picture of the entrance to Gitmo and was warned by a menacing looking Cuban soldier with a very large automatic rifle to be on my way without the photos. I have no idea how you'd even get in there unless you were a guest of the US military. Cuba's an am...

Re: Slingshot Rally Kite Faults

Just checked the wingtips of my Rally 12m- about 20+ days on it so far this year, not even a scuff mark-
Thanks for the heads up though, I'll keep an eye on it- haven't checked my bars yet- but no auto releases at all.

Re: SS Rally 8 & 10m wigtip buckling

I have an 8 and a 10 Rally (and a 12 too)- Both buckled once each when i didn't have the kite pumped up hard enough. Once the dump valve wasn't closed enough, another time I must have been in a rush- I usually pump up to 9 PSI on the gauge, or an even better indicator, when I thump the leading edge ...

Re: Mancora, Peru in January

thanks for all the insight!

I definitely will explore the area, but my girlfriend wants to have a yoga retreat, this works well for both- and as always, I'll keep showing respect towards surfers!

Mancora, Peru in January

Headed to Mancora in January- I know its not the main windy season there, but wondering if I have a chance at some afternoon sea breezes that time of year- anyone? Big kites and a surf board?

Thanks

Re: South Padre Island

you can rent a board package from http://www.southpadreislandkiteboarding.com/ They'll let you use different boards each day depending what you need- lightwind, chop, etc. Comparable to paying for the baggage without the hassle. I think they even have surfboards, you'll need to check though. bring y...

Re: Slingshot Misfit 09 - is this a problem or not?

Not sure if this what you're looking for- but the actual pads over the foot can be removed from the straps, then you can switch them to whatever side you want. It also makes it easier for traveling, as you can remove the bulky top. I actually switched the pads around as I find it more comfortable to...

Re: Wind in Cancun, Playa del Carmen and Tulum in Feb?

I've been in the Tulum area a few times, but the best wind I found was the end of February early March last year. I hoped to kite a few days, ended up kiting 8 out of 9 days. Check out the Sian Ka'an bio reserve south of Tulum. Most likely you'll be kiting alone, but I found amazing kiting there- en...
