Re: summer kite spots near Haliburton (Ontario, Canada)

Thanks both. irwe, that site is great -- can't believe I missed it. And yeah I'm expecting pretty bad wind conditions on those interior lakes, but I'm going to be in the area anyway so might as well try.

summer kite spots near Haliburton (Ontario, Canada)

Think I've exhausted the usual routes for answering this question... Anyone done any summertime kiting near Haliburton (Ontario, Canada)? That whole area is dotted with lakes but I can't find any info about which ones are kiteable. This is for summertime, on water. Cottage country. It's probably all...

Re: ultimate 2-kite superlight travel quiver

Re: ultimate 2-kite superlight travel quiver

Thanks for the permission to purchase... I showed my wife and she laughed which I think is a good thing. Appreciated all the comments. I think I'm going to go with the 15m Soul (and to edt: great points but I already have two 12m kites!) To be honest I'd never heard of the Phantom, checked it out an...

ultimate 2-kite superlight travel quiver

9m Speed5 (already got that) and 15m Soul (tempted to get that). That should cover me from about 13-30 knots, right? (and pack into the corner of a suitcase.) 200 lbs, twintip.

Basically I want someone to tell me to buy a 15m Soul.

Re: Kite Tech Tips: Brummel Splice

Splice experts, critics, pundits, and fans: what do you think of my splice here? I'm new to this but been applying the advice from this thread and others to make myself a new set of flying lines. The line is Liros DC-201 (1.1mm diameter). My bury is 12cm, of which about 2cm is tapered. I went with s...

Re: Depower Lines Wear, Strength, Replacement

Touching on Sun's questions 1 and 3 above: the depower ropes on my Flysurfer bars are a hollow ~4mm rope that has another rope (~2mm) inside it (similar to the way the bungee is threaded inside Sun's rope). That's for warning and for backup: if your thick rope is frayed enough that you can see the t...
