Re: Sorry, your used gear is worth nada

Interesting observation, that used equipment is not selling. I've been observing the same here in Brazil. My guess is that, after 2019-2020, when the world was shut down by COVID, there was a rearrangement in the water sports market. A bunch of new people got into the sport and we had a supply and ...

Re: solo landing a 5m foil kite

In hydrofoiling winds no problems. In twin/surfboard powered winds - 25 knot plus you might expect tangles as you will need to release to one line to walk up to the kite. But even then the option is to sort out the kite on the grass at home after dark so its possible the faster setup and launch make...

Re: Firewire Volcanic Basalt Construction for Kite?

Wait, wut? Carbon is bad for the environment? The element that is the building block of life? The 4th most common element in the observable universe? Or are we talking about the indirect effects like production energy? https://www.theguardian.com/sustainable-business/2017/mar/22/carbon-fibre-wonder...

I see FireWire have replaced Carbon with super duper, ground up melted Basalt which is their sustainable replacement.
The LFT construction boards were glass and not carbon. Not up to the task of kiting unfortunately :jump:

Firewire Volcanic Basalt Construction for Kite?

I had a Firewire Tomo LFT board that I loved but it was a short affair. She snapped at the front foot heading out through the break.

Anybody have any experience with these Volcanic boards?

Re: How to get up on foil in light wind

people that kept distance from kiting since it harder to learn and more cumbersome. I'm still preferring foil with kites in the 8-10k range but I wonder when this range will be equally possible in winging with less effort and/or more specialized equipment :thumb: After I started winging I sold my S...

I use a Sailworks mast cover for the rest of the mast.

Another tip is to use either a standard mast pocket, or just sew one yourself.
Taiguy: the Sailworks covers that come with NoLimitz masts are super premium. Does Sailworks also make custom covers?

Tylaska Light Air Shackle

It’s polycarbonate, super light, and has a 500 pound break strength. Obviously it’s not for an application that could result in a fall, but perhaps it’s interesting for example a quick release for a leash. Photo here is the grey light air shackle and a large bail T5 with a 5000 lb breaking strength....

Re: Kiting after heart attack

A heart attack can mean a lot of different things. You don’t have the language to know the full story and therefore cannot tell the full story to us. And for that reason you should not take any advice from the Kiteforum even from people with a credential. 1/3 of people with MI die before they get to...
