Re: DIY depower rope?

Looks good. Instead of the magnet you could run the oh shit ring around the center lines. I used to do that with my old modified SS bars before I changed them to the new chicken loop. I would not do that. You would have a hard time releasing the cleat and power up again. To pull depower, no problem...

Re: Plywood Foil Board

I have leftover cedar from my MAKO twintip build (I ripped it into strips and built the same way you'd build a kayak/canoe). I may rip the remaining board into flat 3/8 inch boards/wide strips and make my own "plywood". Just force some shape into it when I glue it all up to achieve rocker and maybe...

Re: Best glue for plywood and plywood XPS sandwich

OK, good stuff so far. Yes the PU link I posted is for a PU glue that is very thick. If I hear you folks right, you seem to think a thinner consistency glue would be preferred. I would really appreciate a glue recommendation that is for sale at hard ware stores in the USA. I'm considering Tidebond I...

Re: Plywood Foil Board

I found 2 sheets of 1/4" baltic birch plywood glued up is plenty stiff and strong to use as a twin tip and maybe even foil board. No need to make it heavier with glass, just finish with something. Maybe add another narrow ply layer underneath the bottom center from mast attachment to front foot. I'l...

Have you tried balsa plywood? Should let you leave out the xps and not end up too heavy.
No local source I know of near Boston, MA. Mail order too expensive. Where do you get it from?

Best glue for plywood and plywood XPS sandwich

I have used PU glue in the past for plywood board building when I needed to glue up layers. Thinking I can save a few $$ by not having to order more epoxy. The hardware store tube glue is readily available and some are cheap. I am just contemplating what would be the best glue to get for plywood and...

Re: Plywood Foil Board

I plan on learning to build in the simplest, easiest way until I have a functional board shape that I like and then maybe worry about the weight on a consecutive build. But thanks for all the tips as of now. Beside just weight consideration, building with just wood is way more eco friendly too. I li...

Re: Plywood Foil Board

Reporting first test run, success! Sort of. I took the board for a test run. No finish on the ply yet. Just the glued up plywood and t-nuts for attaching mast and a front strap. Marginal conditions today 12-18mph onshore wind. Still with the old original aluminum Liquid Force foil fish setup minus t...
