Re: When is "Big" too big?

Anthony,

If you would ever like to kite with me in Utah, just send me a PM. There are good YouTube videos on how to launch and land your kite (I suggest watching them), but sometimes it helps to see it in person. I can also give you riding and gear tips. Show you how to safely glide.

Re: When is "Big" too big?

Hi Anthony, Congratulations on your new kite purchase! I agree that 20 mph winds are too much for your first session, but once you are comfortable, you will be reaching for the 21 automatically when you have 4’ of POW and 20 mph wind. It will turn a slog into a full-on powderfest! The 21 Soul is an ...

Pumpy, this is the correct thread, not “Ram Air Predictions for 2019”

And where is the long cut & paste?

Re: Kites for teenagers

I take my children snowkiting. I did not like the Ozone Access because it does not fly well in really light wind. I have also tried inflatables, my daughter has a quiver of Best Kahoonas, but the inflatable kites also don't do well in really light wind. I had the best luck with the Flysurfer Peak. Y...

Re: Mae West & Buoyancy, should we or shouldn't we?

I agree that it should be a personal choice. I hate the nanny state trying to regulate everything. That said, I wear a kayaking pfd for downwinders or if the conditions are crazy just for that extra piece of mind. BTW, Matteo V is not a dullard. I know him personally and he is a good guy, so yeah it...

Re: Thank you Lou Wainman

Hey don't forget about Lou's partner in crime, Eliott Leboe. Those two owned kitebeach in 2000. Lou the king of freestyle and Eliott sending it high. I remember taking lessons there and those two would lose a kite or two every afternoon. It was a junk show! I wonder what they would think if you told...

Re: Flysurfer, bring back the Psycho 4

Don’t wait fora Sonic 3 or a Speed 6, try the Soul. I have owned every FS kite for the past 15 years. The Soul is the best kite for every rider with the exception of racers and dedicated wave riding. I think it is the best kite I have ever flown and I have flown hundreds of kites over the past 19 ye...

Kiting is a dangerous sport. Best bet is to stay home and park your butt on the sofa.

Re: When is "Big" too big?

Windrider, Anthony states that he weighs 100 kilos. I would still make an argument for a 21 over an 18 for snowkiting in the mountains for people under 200 LBS. The 21 makes all the difference in deep powder, lee and wind shadowed areas. Your kite is also your motor to get you uphill. Today, I was o...

Re: When is "Big" too big?

My board was built by a local rider that built snowboards for kiting several years ago. The company was called 3B. Unfortunately, he is no longer making boards. I flew the 21 again today at Strawberry. Wind started out light around 8 mph and built to 20 by the time I left. Never felt overpowered. Th...
