Spare kites are a good idea if you know that a replacement will take a while to arrive. I started thinking about the number of spare kites that I have and it is a bit embarrassing. I think I am a kite hoarder.

Telling you not to use an ancient, unsafe kite is a positive comment. You should be putting your own safety ahead of anything else.

Best use of that kite is to reuse the material for another purpose.
