Re: Self launch and self land option

You can hot launch nearly every foil kite even when it's nuking. The reason is simple, when the foil kite is filling up with air it has no power. so just hot launch it, and the kite will just flap around in the air without power. To land, if you have the 5th line attached, you can just pull the QR. ...

don't forget to sit on your hydrofoil when you relaunch. It's the only way to get enough resistance against the wind.

Re: Which kite is the easiest to re-lunch at low winds?

Can you talk more about this center/rear lines trick? I gues there is something to do with keeping the tension on the lines otherwise it may stall during a messed up turn. No it's something else entirely. If you have ever owned a 2005 era C kite you will know about the 5th line relaunch. To do this...

Re: mad crash on a foil

What happened in this case is the foil spin around the Z axis and the mast got trapped inside the lines. The line isn't actually wrapped all the way around the mast it is stretched around half of it, so of course it makes the kite loop. If you notice it in time you can grab the opposite side leader ...

Re: Which kite is the easiest to re-lunch at low winds?

only a foil will launch when the winds drop below 5 knots. I find the tube kites are much the same, has to be enough wind to get them up so it's better to never crash them in the first place. Once you know the inner center line outer rear line trick, it's more about how much the tube kite weighs tha...

Re: Ruben Lenten - My most painful kiteboarding accident (broke my leg)

Some of the biggest moves kiters now do are a slim chance or KGB megaloop unhooked, so they do like the long leashes. Hadlow has been lashing to the front instead of the back for at least 5 years now. I agree, short leash, straps, full suicide that's the safest way to do megaloops, but riders are st...

Re: What do i do if my kite don't flag out after pulling safety on the water?

I really hope that if the wind did pick up it would flag out like intended and the result i got is like was said above, not enough wind for it to flag out but enough to keep power. sometimes when it's really windy the QR still does the same thing that happened to you! The kite doesn't roll over. Th...

Re: What do i do if my kite don't flag out after pulling safety on the water?

"It's not that important that it flags out." Damn you brave. I don't ride control bars where my first option is climbing up the lines. anyway, if you do climb up the lines generally you want to full release first, pull the QR and pull the leash get completely disconnected from the kite, then climb u...

Re: TT foot pad/binding bolt spacing

hey plummet. the standard is 6 inches, this works for most straps and for all wake style boots. Pre-2012 there were often 6.25 inch bindings, and other sizes but it has settled down to a standard of the wakeboard 6 inch (15.2cm). Shinn boards like the monk uses the "european standard" of 155mm (6.1 ...

Re: What do i do if my kite don't flag out after pulling safety on the water?

that's how mini 5th systems work. some people like them because relaunch after pulling the QR is easier. They sometimes just keep pulling and never dump power that's the drawback of mini 5th systems. I would just buy a new control bar one with single line flagging if you want a kite to flag out. if ...
