Re: Wichard Snap Shackles - why so much $$$?!

Since there's a Wichard revival, here's a possible way to use it, as a full chicken loop replacement, allowing unhooking, donkey dicking, etc... Customizable at will in terms of length. Trigger is always on same side, need grab/push away 100% built from boat shop supplies, just bowline knots, no spl...

Re: Is kite boarding/ kitesurfing a boardsport or a kite sport?

Sure, somehow it doesn't matter to the average user, but as LWC pointed, it does matter whenever some event or competition is organized, or when records need approval, or whenever olympics funding is involved. The battle in France between FFV and FFVL was due to questions of insurance, liabilities, ...

Re: Flotation

^^^^ I never go out further than I am prepared to swim in. I feel like I need to explain a bit what I said above with being a couple of kms at the back, which is probably more that I can swim. But on the other hand, this is only done in onshore seabreezy conditions, and I'd expect to eventually dri...

Re: Flotation

Since I started riding Peak4s in the ocean, I tend to favour my prone board Zeeko Scrambler (36L), and I wear an impact vest for extra flotation. And I pick my wetsuit accordingly, to allow for a long drift back to shore. When I'm riding in our closed estuary, I can use low or no volume boards, mini...

Re: Flysurfer Peak 4

Yeah, well, the point of zero line tension is where you enter into unpredictability and potential collapse. The good thing is that it takes quite a bit of deliberate effort on the Peak to reach that point, but it happens, and when it collapses, the outcome is not always clear, can get a bit of bridl...

Re: Flysurfer Peak 4

I think only few people made the bold claim that the 5 works in 9-10kts. And if it does, it is quite tedious (for me, 9-10 is still low end for the 8m). The bottom of wind range is dictated by how/if you can get your ass on the board after a couple of loops. And on the Peak, that takes a fair bit of...

Re: Rear edge of a foil mast too sharp

Trailing edge doesn't have to be sharp. And you can make it less dangerous by squaring it off. I think it's been discussed here that square is better than rounded.

Re: The reason to wing. Can't do this with a kite

But amazingly it is often possible to paddle out through the surf on a wingfoil, just having the wing behind you on the leash. Yes, but you would need to already have sufficient depth to keep the foil from scratching the bottom. It's the worst possible feeling when the water level drops ahead of a ...

Re: The reason to wing. Can't do this with a kite

(...) wing more fun and way more spots that can be used (...) Wing definitely opens up some spots (or some wind directions on existing spots) that would be considered way too sketchy for kiting. (wind shadows, rocks, small entry, exit...). Note that shit winds will still make for some shit wing ses...

Re: Infexion Seatbelt Quick Release

Maybe you're right and it's overkill, I'm just referring to the faq at https://www.infexion.eu/seatbelt-quick-release/qr-faq/ How big of a ring should I use on my depower cord? The Seatbelt Quick release is designed to fit a ring with a maximum size of 5x25mm (5mm thickness and 35mm outer diameter)....
