There is absolutely zero fuss getting this done. Go to it!
Just take plenty of care to protect your board from heat while you grind or drill those bolts. It would be fairly easy to do some serious damage to the board if you're not careful.
today I used a unifoil setup which has carbon base plate with slotted holes. It turned out to take a bit longer than the gofoil, despite the open slots, and this was due to a 3-4mm foam pad under the base plate which requires a few extra rounds of tightening the bolts before the foam is fully and ev...
Disagree... I have never seen anyone being able to assemble a board to baseplate in 1 minute or less in a track with loose T nuts. ... Funny thing, since you said that, I thought I would actually time it. So the stopwatch said 57s for bolting my gofoil onto my tracks with loose t-nuts, and 46s to r...
One part of your description still stands out: "It picked up a few more knots and started to get interesting". That's the crux of the thing. Arguably foil kites like the 18m Sonic4 aren't designed explicitly to be slow turners with a delay in the response. This is a negative tradeoff that comes from...
but it was not my point. My point is that, an easy way to adjust mast position, while on water, without having to walk to the car or carry tools, is desirable :thumb: Yes, that is a very desirable feature, and I've seen something like that https://foilsurfing.net/hydrofoil-wing-screws-review/ also ...
@rnelias, what you've linked is a T-nut that can do both M6 and M8, which is very weird. I think you're more thinking at the "locking" T-nuts, typically using a grub-screw to hold their position in the tracks. But I don't like those, because they require completely undoing 4 bolts. With standard sli...
I tend to share the same foil between kiting and winging, and I also sometimes do both in the same day. If I carry the foil mounted on the kitefoil board and decide that it's a wing day, then I'll have to remove it, and mount it on the wingboard, so it's actually preferable for me now to always remo...
I really don't see the point. Extra weight, extra places where you can have a little bit of slop develop over time, for what? A base plate with open countersunk holes takes literally 1mn max to tighten or loosen the 4 bolts. A track system with double entry like what Gong and North use is also super...
It's been well over 20yrs, and I'd love to go back. We used to ride more south towards Diabat. Cleaner winds, better waves and more angle. Although Moulay can be a bit overcrowded and mostly a windsurf spot, there is a long stretch of beach a few kms north, we parked the rental Fiat Uno on the side ...
