Re: Where Should I Move To Retire & Kite?

Toby, how is it living as an expat German in Brazil? Some of the posts about living outside one’s country of origin suggests there can be a lonely endeavor.

Re: foot switching - all the video's are photo shopped, right? advice please

On eating shit: I went out yesterday in variable winds from nada to possibly 14mph. I've been somewhat successful on foot switches off foil but never could see the light "on foil". The variable winds were a hassle but otherwise it was fine day. I took mister-z's suggestion of playing with foot posit...

Re: Burro Attack!

I didn't mention the foil is an Armstrong. I wonder if warranty would cover being trampled by a stampede of wild burros? ;-)

Burro Attack!

We kite Lake Mohave on the Colorado River. Summer brings warm water, thermal winds in the afternoons and plenty of sun. On the Nevada side there is beach launching at a few sites. My side, Arizona has limited access and we generally launch from a boat. This past weekend I was stuck without a buddy t...

Re: kiting Bahia Santa Maria south of Mexicali? Lodging, camping and general access

Was there a year ago. Tide was out which empties the bay. Didn't get a chance to kite. There are private homes throughout. One can drive along beach but be sure to have a 4x drive vehicle. Tons of lodging in San Felipe approx 30 miles N. Easy access from the border. Plan for a long wait coming back....

Re: Foil Gybe Advice

In a different thread (Armstrong vs Axis) advice was a different foil would Not allow for rapid progression such as this. I'm stuck in touch down gybe mode. For me that's the current and elusive goal. Yes, time on the water is probably the main limitation. Any feedback on equipment (specifically foi...

Re: kiting near Phoenix

Depending on where you are in Phx Lake Mohave is 3-4 hrs away with good quality kiting. If you'd like more info let me know.

Re: Armstrong vs Axis

As mentioned I'm riding a Ke Nalu 580 (1084 cm2 AR 3.33) and enjoy it. The foil also came with 775 wing (1494cm2 AR 4.14). While I assumed the larger wing would hold me slower through a turn, thus allowing my motor response time to fire, not so. Hard to describe the difference other then it didn't f...

Re: Armstrong vs Axis

Thanks for the sobering feedback jkrug. Yes, I could have learned by now it's practice that makes one better rather then new gear. My time on the water is limited to a few days a month and a week or two traveling a year. Progression is slow. I spend most days fantasizing about the next session. None...

Re: Armstrong vs Axis

I want to bring this back up. I too am looking for a foil upgrade and have been following the posts on various models. I am stuck on getting a gybe without touching down. My time on the water is a limiting factor. Riding a Ke Nalu 580 foil which I've enjoyed (1084cm2). Being ever in search for the n...
