Re: Much difference going from 90l to 75l?

I am 105kg. I have one board 5'2x25"x90l. I am not skilled enough to go smaller but I don't see much difference in light wind performance between this and other (way bigger) boards that I tried. The bottom line is that heavyweights like me will struggle in less than 12knots no matter what equipment....

Re: Kite foiling is dying sooo fast

If you are bigger, you need a bigger wing and a bigger foil. Same as in kiteboarding. When it comes to a board the same rules apply to all weights. If you know how to pump you don’t need a board bigger than -10l. So if you are 240 pounds you don’t need a board bigger than 100l. Weight is a handicap ...

Re: Foil board size

There is nothing wrong with sinking a board a little bit. Any SUP surfer will tell you that a surf SUP is most stable when the rails are a little bit underwater. However; if you plan learning wing foiling in 10knots you will be frustrated no matter how big the board. Until you learn efficient pumpin...

Re: Foil board size

Don’t buy a bigger board. 140l is more than enough. The bigger board will be more of the hindrance and will in fact be less stable - especially inflatables- very corky. Anyway, after a few sessions you will want to be on ~110 and after a season on ~90. Large boards will be transitional so buy used -...

Re: Hunt for "MY" ultimate kite surfboard

Why not ask a shaper ? the way retail prices are going custom boards are to be considered again. I am suggesting because it sounds like you know exactly the feeling you like, with reference to your golden Skillit. And yes you have tried other boards following the trend but keep coming back to this ...

Re: Best cities to live for year round kiteboarding

I live in the Central California. Not on the coast but less than one hour drive to 4 kitesurfing spots - Pismo, Jalama, Santa Barbara, Ventura. From April to October one of these spots is always pumping so you can kite every day. Santa Barbara is foiling, the other spots are perfect for surfing with...

I have several boards, and as I wrote my strapless freestyle board is 1” thick, and it has noticeably the best board feel from my boards. You are better connected to the water with thinner board. End of story. 8)

Re: Surfboard weight

What problem? Not saying we haven’t all been convinced by Matteo but how is the volume of your average, say 22-25 L board of detriment? I think the kite let’s you get away with a tiny board that most cannot otherwise paddle, so yeah a kite let’s you shed excess volume, but why is a thinner board an...

Re: Surfboard weight
