Re: Naish Pivot

I ride 2018 pivots, also did not like the bar it came with, couldn’t get used to btb trim.
I changed to a cabrina bar which I modified a bit and ended up with quite a short throw, honestly I hardly noticed the difference, I do however ride surf so alwaysa bit more underpowered than over.

Re: Cape Town safety and riding convention basics

Oooooh FFS, apparently my comment that driving 20min north will give you all the space you need was peceived to be giving away ‘secret’ spot info, its not as if a search on this here very forum can give you a plethora of options 20mins away from the crowds. If you cant say it in a open forum then do...

Re: Cape Town safety and riding convention basics

I have been kiting Cape town on and off for 18 years, last year I vowed never to kite kitebeach to doodles on a busy day , its madness and dangerous. The best waveriding IMHO on that particular stretch is between sunset and kitebeach, or gatebeach(gaybeach) usually also the least crowded stretch on ...

Re: The lightest snappiest surfboard for overhead waves?

Some suggestions i had not considered, thank you. Looked at the HB octo a while ago, really like the look of it, not sure if it is my aversion to spending to much time on line but actually find it pretty hard to "buy" these boards online or find a dealer. No response from Airush south africa on inqu...

The lightest snappiest surfboard for overhead waves?

I dont have the luxury of being able to test boards, no shops around where I am most of the time. Looking for as the title says , light strong and snappy, for waves overhead to double, I know asking for the holy grail. While passing trough Florida recently I laid hand on the airush compact bamboo, l...

Re: Ankle leash on a surfboard?

Now that everyone is firmly setled in "Leashes under no circumstance NO Dange Danger!" and the "dependendant on conditions" camp Gunnar, do you have a quick release on your leash, while I try and use as short a leash as possible I notice some video footage showsguys riding leashes around 1 1/2 times...

Dakhla downwind, anyone done it?

It sounds well organised etc but would like to know what kind of conditions are had along the way.

Most of the pics look like flat water, great flat water, but I prefer waves, not expecting pointa preta but what percentage would be "surfable" ?

Thanks

Re: You know you're addicted when ...

You know you're addicted when every consideration in your life is is weighed against how it will effect or improve your kiting. What car you drive Where you live Jobs you are prepared to do, or not do Eating habits Party habits (any invitation will remain in limbo until the forecast has been checked...

Re: You know you're addicted when........

But you can control conditions with the kite size, no... ? I know many experienced kiters ( 15 years plus) who only ride ONE board! Not counting surfboards & wakeboards, that's not kiting & that's when I can understand different fin sizes & setups. But pure kiting seems optimal on a smaller TT... e...
