Re: The Future of the Sport?

I have been windsurfing for about 37 years now and I began to kite in 2010, so in comparison I'm a rookie. About windsurfing, the theory of the excess of specialization is right. It's not only a problem of difficulty of access, it's a more "material" problem of money. E.g., in the middle age of wind...

Re: flysurfer soul: I need to know 3 things.

@Jake: I'm 75 kgs. and I really can't imagine me riding the 21 in more than 15 knots, way too much for me. Maybe a more technical and experienced kiter can handle it, not me. @Ice101: never tested the 10 but at this point I will for sure the first time I have the chance. As I told before, it's not t...

Re: Aluula ? New Revolutionary Material from Ocean Rodeo

Anyway, I think that just the announce of this new technology has immediate effect on the market. In my case, I planned to replace my 15 this year, and the nr. 1 candidate was a foil kite or a strutless pump. After reading this thread about Aluula I'm going to wait, I want to see the new kites befor...

Re: flysurfer soul: I need to know 3 things.

I tested a 12 and liked it but… I frankly don't know if I really want one. I own a Speed 21 and it's really the ultimate light wind machine, no other kite will keep you riding in such ridiculous wind on a tt. But a 12 or a 10? When it's time to use a Soul 12 (speaking about TT, don't know with a foi...

Re: Aluula ? New Revolutionary Material from Ocean Rodeo

I'Having flown clouds for a couple seasons now, it's painfully obvious that most kites are laden with loads of extra fabric in the way of scuff guards and "reinforcements" that are largely superfluous. I have hopes that a more robust fabric along with the quest for ultra light kites will have us be...

Re: Aluula ? New Revolutionary Material from Ocean Rodeo

My two cents: about bending, if I feel ok now with my old XR2 born in 2012, I think a next year model (Aluula or not) won't disappoint me in this department. About price, yes, maybe the new Aluula kites will be expensive as a foil kite but I don't think this is a major issue, since in theory an Aluu...

Re: Aluula ? New Revolutionary Material from Ocean Rodeo

After so many years reading "game changer" for every small (and often useless) "improvement", 50% less weight definitely IS game changing. FS Soul 8 is declared at 1,72 kgs. Less than 2 kgs. for a 10 mts 3 struts lei means flying a kite with the weight of a foil but without all the cons of a foil. T...

Core XR2 15 LW vs Core XR5/6 15 LW

Hi guys, I own an old XR2 15 that already made its time. It's a sail I used a lot and so many times it saved my sessions in light winds. The only thing I frankly don't like of my XR2 is that if it has a huge wind range but in strong gusts or if the wind picks up too much it it becomes really scary. ...
