Neoprene gloves - pre-curved, 1/2mm on the palm side, 4/5mm on the back and reinforced sections between the first/second fingers.

The world's supply of helium is limited and we are currently facing shortages. Instead of putting a part of what reserves we have left to good use (such as MRI machines), these people chose to fill a kite with it and give it to a bunch of beginners to see if they can feel a difference. That bar looks potentially dangerous. If the depower rope gets wrapped around the bar it could disable the primary release if there is not enough space to deploy it, leaving you option except completely releasing your kite.
