Re: Welcome To California - No Kitesurfing

Really, What was being debated wasn't the wellbeing of the birds ( neither group had any facts), but a conflict between two groups of people with different and conflicting interests. The bird watchers want to watch birds, without kites in their field of view ( pretending they are in 100% natural en...

Welcome To California - No Kitesurfing

Another one bites the dust. The fabulous folks at California State Parks have decided to expand their ban on kitesurfing by extending the "Snowy Plover" nesting area further north to Morro Bay. While a lot of people may say, "oh, it's just a little stretch of beach" the reality is it's death by 1000...

Re: Monday Madness: Ponta Preta fired for GKA Cabo Verde day one

Again Airton is way ahead of the pack. He pulls an aerial off the lip (which is the gold standard move in windsurfing contests AND the one move that kiters can't really do which windsurfers do). That's the future for waveriding and for some reason none, or not many of the top pros, are doing it?!?!?...

Re: Is strapless overrated?

Here's the thing for me. I am 50. I am in pretty good shape. I ride a few great, even world class, wave spots. I have ridden strapped since the beginning. I have ridden strapless as well. With straps I can: 1. jump 12 foot of whitewater easily 2. i can tack upwind through the inside, because I can j...

Re: Skin Self-Repair?

Thanks for the input. I tried the duct tape & band aid approach today. It worked well. I just made sure that the strip of tape, more than covered the band aid. The band aid also adequately covered my abrasion. Only thing was that when I pulled it off I had slight abrasion around the edges, probably ...

Skin Self-Repair?

Here's the deal. I want to know the best way to repair & re-enforce as small patch of skin on my waist? My harness sometimes rubs against my boardshorts there & has worn some of the skin raw. I usually am able to move my harness around so it doesn't hit is soo much butt this is a pain. I am on vacat...

Re: Fukushima - isn't it time we started worrying?

I think people enjoy being scared as the facts don't support any cause for concern. From Woods Hole Oceanographic Study, specifically on Fukushima radiation spreading throughout the Pacific , "The highest levels of cesium (10 Bq/m3) attributable to Fukushima that we have measured were found 1,500 mi...

Re: Maui First week of Nov

Best advice I can give you is to take a 7. You will be pissed if it blows hard & you don't have one. Seen that mistake several times :D

Re: Controlling Speed

Probably having a lot of "throw" will help tremendously. Some older bars do not allow a lot of throw, i.e. amount you can flag the kite out. Other thing, and I won't tout the brand I purchased, is to get some new kites. Or newer if you can't afford new. I upgraded to 2017's & man what a difference. ...

Re: Moorea

I kited Moorea & Tahiti 17 years ago in October. I had a FLexifoil Blade 4.9, could launch it anywhere. It isn't (or at least wasn't) super ideal waveriding. It did get windy. It's just tough figuring out where to launch & land. Beaches are tight, the wind direction can vary. There is razor sharp co...
