Re: Beginner Advice

While a 3 or 4 line trainer is a great start to learn to kite it will only get you so far. On the plus side a decent 4 line trainer will only cost you $150. An alternative which will get you much much farther would be to get a small kite and learn in light winds. Obviously there are still risks and ...

Re: Light wind kite

i ride a twin tip and im 72kg wanting to kitesurf at 8-12 knots I'm the same weight, but ride a surfboard or skimboard and have a Gen6 OR Flite 17m. Since I got it it's become my most used kite size and almost completely replaced my 12m because of it's ability to handle up to 20 knots of wind. I ca...

I assume that Aluula is exclusive to Ocean Rodeo and they are busy enough just rolling out the kites.
Nope, I think they even created a new company to develop Aluula (it's a joint venture between Ocean Rodeo and someone else) and OR licences it from the Aluula company. It's available to all.

Not gonna lie, I was shocked when he threw launched it. Dunno why it's in the Peak 4 topic though.

Re: Kite Spots in Comox, Canada

Comox is a nice place and has some great kiting outside of summer. During summer you have some okay options: 1) Port Alberni: 1:20 drive 2) China Creek: 1:40 drive (camping available) 3) Nitinat Lake: 2:55 drive (camping available) 4) Tofino: 3:00 drive (camping available) 5) Nipkish Lake: 2:30 driv...

Re: Introducing the World's Lightest and Strongest Kites - Aluula

I'm surprised there aren't any Aluula Wing's out on the market, judging by the diameter of the LE and struts on the good ones Aluula would be a no brainer for creating a super stiff smaller strutted wing.

Re: Do you step off gracefully?

With my old tank foil I'd just ride it until it dismounted me :P

With my carbon foil I prefer to only ride in to about waist deep water and then fall off upwind while tipping the foil over on it's side, since my wing is so big it floats on it's side there are no chances of it hitting the ground.

Re: The reason to wing. Can't do this with a kite

The one thing the surf foil made me realize is how much of a hindrance the kite becomes once I'm foiling on a wave. Even with my Peaks4 3/4/5m at some point I have to grab the bar and redirect it to keep drifting; ride, pump, repeat. I too foil exclusively with Peak4, but never in "real" waves but ...
