Re: Pocket board building

I attempted peelply finish without vacuum on top of the board as mentioned on this thread, but got these bubbles. I ironed the peelply beforehand. What causes these? Possible to eliminate these without vacuum? These are bubbles between the peel ply and glass, but not necessarily glass and the board...

Re: Best glue for plywood and plywood XPS sandwich

Re: Best glue for plywood and plywood XPS sandwich

I use cheap (8$ per kg) marine grade PU wood glue for that. Did try those thicker ones... difficult to spread thin and so have to use a lot... and adds unnecessary weight.

Re: Plywood Foil Board

Building is always better than thinking, but to give some constructive critism. The negative part of using plywood as skins over foam is that usually plywood is 3 layers. the middle layer is 90 degrees to needed stiffness- and is adding a lot of weight with only marginal or no longitudinal stiffnes...

Re: Plywood Foil Board

When paired with a very heavy aluminium foil (more than 4kg), it was a bit of a problem. But with a regular, sub 4kg aluminum or carbon foil, it's not an issue. Hi there - That light colored diy twintip looks a lot like an Ocean Rodeo Mako - care to elaborate? Sure, that's my second attempt a DIY m...

Re: Plywood Foil Board

Did you put in the nose rocker at the same time you clamped the concave? Both the concave and nose roc...

Any problems with a plywood board sinking or sitting so low in the water that it is hard to see after you fall off?

Re: Plywood Foil Board

I build a couple of plywood foilboards last summer. I was inspired by the one built by forum member Plummet. I used two layers of 4mm cheap plywood. Put a 20cm wide plywood strip in the middle from the mast mount to the foot hook. Also gave the deck some concave to make the boards stiffer. One is 1...
