Re: Cabarete Kite Beach - solo traveler tips

Ali's Surf Camp is nice. I'm not fully updated on which restaurants are still there, but: Front Loop: love the breakfast. Been there 50+ times. Number 7 is great (egg wrap). Pomodoro: Great pizza (if I remember correctly Toby doesn't like it though - so might be just me). Le Bistro: A bit more clas...

Re: Sometimes I wish I knew my speed

I have a Suunto Ambit 3. It is expensive, but very cool with a lot of apps you can add. Make sure you get the crystal front because it doesn't scratch.

All-Included Girls Trip to Cabarete, Dominican Republic - Yoga, Kite, Eat, Sleep, Repeat (May 25-June 1)

https://i.imgur.com/F50ZlCn.jpg We have bundled all of our favorite things about Cabarete into the type of trip we would want to take (if we didn’t already live here in paradise). So we hope you are ready to get bendy, shred hard, eat well, and sleep tight. Because your new kite sisters (that would...

Re: Spanish Lessons/Kitesurfing

Hola! I have been living in Cabarete almost 8 years and have a kite school here. I wrote an article that discusses the wind history here: http://kiteboardingcabarete.com/blog/wind-season-cabarete/ April is not the windiest of months here, but in 3 weeks you should get a decent amount of windy days. ...

Re: Cabarete Kite Beach - solo traveler tips

Hey! I have been living in Cabarete almost 8 years. It's such a great place that I ended up buying a kite school and opening a restaurant on Kite Beach. In general, Cabarete is pretty safe. You need to keep your head on straight like you would in any unfamiliar area. Don't walk alone in super dark a...

Re: Puerto Rico or Cabarete - January kite trip

I would say the wind forecast can be finicky. I never trust it. Usually I wake up in the morning and check the sky. And it can change. Summer is thermal, so winter is storm front which makes it more gusty and less predictable than thermal wind. I wrote all about the wind here. Hopefully it helps mor...

Re: Cabarete this season ?

Hola. I own Dare2fly kite school and have otherwise been here for almost 7 years. The wind has been unpredictable to be honest. Storm season just ended and we had a normal amount of wind, but it has been colder than normal for February. The past two days the wind has been coming from the exact oppos...

Re: Where to live and kite warm water everyday?

Totally agree with Cabarete! I have been here 6 years after coming for a 30 day vacation. Now I own a kite school and restaurant here on kite beach. As mentioned above, there might be better seasonal conditions, but as an overall package, Cabarete wins at most things. Here is info about the wind sea...
