Re: Kite Spots in Comox, Canada

Two resources: 1. http://www.bigwavedave.ca/wiki/index.php/Sailing_Guide 2. https://www.facebook.com/search/top/?q=comox%20valley%20kiteboard%20crew I don't live there, but do visit occasionally. Can get pretty good in the south-east gales in winter, just need a good wetsuit/drysuit. Summer I think ...

Re: Saddest day in the history of the surf sport - Drama in the Netherlands

Thanks Bracuru for posting the photos. Rather than getting lost in the statistics or the detached situation analysis, this is the human element. These were fun-loving and adventurous young men, they were buddies and sons and partners. And but for freak chance of fate, wrong place at the wrong time o...

Re: The reason to wing. Can't do this with a kite

... and this wing right now is the lacey lingerie that just makes it even better. that's pretty good. Curious what you have for a wing? I've got the 5.3 and 3.6 Naish S25's on order. I have 7m Gong Gen1 and a 4m Ozone V1. I started with a Gong 5m, but knew right away it didn't have enough low...

Re: The reason to wing. Can't do this with a kite

I am 20 sessions in, so far have only had 1.5 sessions with legit surf, and it's everything I have dreamed about. Whip in, then luff the wing, and surf foil it independent of wind power, and then at the end of the wave power back up, get outside and do it again and again. Yes, I could have done the ...

Re: Game changer Electric future foil idea for kites or Wings

I was about to post the same as the prior replies, as I have an interest in motor-assisted take-offs for surf foiling, to hopefully ride waves that are otherwise unrideable (short of owning a waverunner and having any friends willing to tow me in  ) But with your clarification, I re-read your ...

Re: GKA Event Updates and New Discipline: Freestyle Hydrofoil

I don't really know how to feel about hydrofoil freestyle in competition. Most of me is eager to see the accelerated progression, It's a single comp so I guess it all depends on the conditions that day, but just in general, where would this kind of comp end up? Straps, strapless, big air, low level...

Re: Toby, no wingfoil forum?

there's a few out there I know of, add-ons to existing forums: https://www.standupzone.com/forum/index.php/board,91.0.html https://www.foilfeed.net/forums/forum/wing-foiling-2/ Both of these are non-wind chaser forums ... seems to me that'll be the biggest chunk of the people using wings, those who ...

Re: Changing to RideEngine harness - pain on sides of pelvis

I have the 2017-18 Ride Engine, with the single strap. Friends have the newer version, I suspect the tightening works better. I normally fit medium, but found the RE rode up too much, couldn't tighten it enough. So I use a small and I cinch it down tight as it can go. In normal wind range, it feels ...

Re: Let's Talk Foil Families

My foil heritage: Stringy wings/fuselage on a slingshot mast. Then some DIY g10 wings added to the fuselage (very simple flat wing attached to flat surface). Then got into surf foiling, added slingshot wings and a slingshot fuselage to the mast, along with additional shorter masts. They are heavy bu...
