Re: The foil lives on – IKA meeting outcomes

So... - boards: Hydrofoil & tri-fins - kites: LEI & foil 2x2 = 4 classes in the future? What about changing weather during race days/week? - Foil kites class in 40 knots? - LEI class in 5 knots? :argue: There should be two classes: "Prototype Class" : bring what you want and race fast (so San Franci...

Re: Foils, foils and foils at race!!!

...I think it would have been fair from Johnny Heineken to keep doing Formula race board for a while (at least the World Championship) to keep the class alive. Hmmm...I think I'll choose what activities and equipment I want to pursue with my time, instead of what someone else decides for me, thank ...

Re: Foils, foils and foils at race!!!

That would be like asking Lewis Hamilton to go back to racing go karts! foil kites are 20% faster than LEIs (light winds only at the moment) - also I am going on comments from people like JH Foil boards are 25% faster on all points of sail than course boards Why would you ever go back to something ...

Re: Foils, foils and foils at race!!!

Now Johnny Heineken drop raceboard competition (big mistake) for hydrofoil, and now french are leading formula raceboard! How was it a big mistake? Seems like he chose to focus on the hydrofoil this year and forget about the raceboard. First foil gold cup race, Maxime Nocher won every race against ...

Re: Foils, foils and foils at race!!!

I'm not sure exactly what happened, but there was some mix-up where her son Ollie (who totally dominated the men's event) and Steph both needed the same kite at around about the same time and they were not able to make it happen. so, this is border line to be within olympics (x-fingers that will ha...

Re: 3D Printed Kites. The future Arrived;)

The video doesn't show a 3D printed sail, however they are using an automated mold and gantry to fly the human technicians "Peter Pan" like over the sail. Also, the laminating process might result in a heavier canopy? Maybe but it would be as close as a printing solution. You can imagine the "peter...

Re: 3D Printed Kites. The future Arrived;)

The robot doesn't need a break and the free advertisement might make it worthwhile! Also once you've made the first mold for the kite, you can keep printing on it for years as needed. No overstocks, just order it online, and the robot will have it printed, wrapped and shipped in 20 min:) You are to...

Re: 3D Printed Kites. The future Arrived;)

I dare All of the big kite companies, claiming research and innovation, to get on to the new moon race and be the first to come up with a 3D printed kite I agree! It's being done in the sail maker industry for years now. I think the main issue is which material can we use. Sails are made of kevlar,...

Re: Richard Branson and Best investor buy PKRA

Back on topic The investors are very self-confident and do not necessarily ask anyone for advice - which has caused some upset with the driver association. You feel left out there. Last Monday leading rider sat at least with in the negotiations. The fear of what might be called upon to revise formul...
