Re: Kiteforum KOTA meetup?

Great Exal, although of course it might be all over by then. They are putting up the stands in the parking lot already, and preparing the locals for closure of Marine Drive.

Re: Windy Planet 2018 - Tom Court

Good for him to recover that well, but damn, I hate attention spans that are no longer than 1 second. Much prefer Kevin Langaree's approach to videos.

Re: Kitesurfing instructor in US

Cape Hatteras or Hood River would be best, although Hood River winds down before October. You could start with REAL in Cape Hatteras, they are a big operation with lots of intructors, Kittyhawk kites is smaller, then there are lots of small intruction operations, mostly single guys and gals. I'm not...

Kiteforum KOTA meetup?

Seems quite a few Kiteforum regulars are in Cape Town. I wonder if anyone else would be up for meeting during the competition, for example, an hour before it starts at KiteBeach, perhaps near the southern end of the parking lot. Might start on Sunday!

Re: Time for more stoke stories.

On Saturday I rode the middle section of the imagined downwinder in Cape Town I wrote about in the "The moon is half full" thread, from Kite Beach to Haakgat. The waves were too big for me on strapless board, so I went with TT and had some great jumping on 9m Pivot. The second part of it from Big Ba...

Re: Large Kite that will relaunch

I can’t remember any LEI kite that will relaunch easy in conditions like that. Try to practice lw relaunching, watch some videos, there are few ways to do that. I recomemd pulling one of the front lines (if you have low V) while holding the opposite back line to help kite turn on the side. LW relau...

Re: Risky kiting in Cape Town this evening

Hi piccio, not sure I understand your plans. If you are arriving here on Saturday or Sunday, I don't think the forecasts are that reliable that far out. Platboom is a pretty expert wave-riding location, most prefer Witsands or Bloubergstrand unless there is really no wind in those locations.

Risky kiting in Cape Town this evening

The SEaster only came through late today, around 6PM, and weakly at that, see meter at Kite Beach below. Anyway, I did not go out, but there were lots of windsurfers and about 10 kiters at Sunset I could see from my flat in Milnerton. Around 7:30 I noticed one kiter on a reasonably large, perhaps 12...
