Re: Need advice buying used naish pivot

I have both 2015/2016 and 2018 Pivots in sizes from 7-11m and far prefer the 2018 kites for the quadtex. It not only makes the kite respond better, it protects it from damage. I've torn several of my 2015/2016 Pivots in half when caught in big waves, but my 2018 versions have all survived similar ac...

Re: How will Covid19 affect the launch of 2021 kites?

Have to agree with the Captain. Naish Pivot introduced 2015, that's just six years ago, was a revolution for me and many others, and the quadtex canopy material from 2017 onwards was another significant step forward. My newest Pivot is only 2018, so I cannot comment on the 2019 and 2020 changes, but...

Re: naish pivot: 11 or 12m size?

I've never ridden a 12m Pivot, so cannot compare, but my 2018 11m Pivot is a wonderful kite, quick enough to jump, but gentle enough for wave riding. But I weigh 10kb more than you and at 20 knots I would be on my 9m Pivot and having a blast. 25 knots and up I go to my 7m Pivot and get ecstatic, and...

Re: Adaption to smaller size kite

The very best feeling is when you get overpowered on your 8m and are struggling to enjoy the kiting, come in and pump up your 6m and when you go out suddenly it will all be smooth and easy to kite in what had become unkitable. Wonderful!

Re: My experience kiting in Colombia for almost 3 months.

Great report, one day when the world returns to "normal" I'd love to get there, perhaps on my own sailboat which is stuck in Panama (upwind to sail there though).

Re: Covid-19 - How does it affect your kite-life?

My kitesurfing friends in South Africa are sharing videos of people riding bicycles and surfing being arrested. They are no longer risking kitesurfing.

Re: The Africa Archives - Naish

Thanks for posting that, Toby. Like us the Naish crew really had a good time in Cape Town. Pity about Ewan getting hurt in the KOTA. He stayed with my local friend David, and I know Stuart and Ross-Dillan from the last few years in Cape Town. They definitely have a good attitude to things, and congr...

Re: Corona Virus - Has your country banned kitesurfing?

Not the entire country, the USA is pretty big and diverse, however in Illinois we are not supposed to travel except for essentials, so that cuts out kiting, plus our little local lake is closed to all activity. I would be willing to break the rules and go kiting solo, but there isn't anywhere attrac...

Re: The craziness is underway in Cape Town

Very nice Lanc! I'm pretty sure I met you guys on the bus at Holbaai one day. All three of you were on twintips just like this run. I can't recall what I was riding that day, I go either way. And I'm envious, I'm stuck in Central Illinois where it is not only cold but our local lake is closed to sai...
