Re: Stupid things that always amaze me

I have probably launched something like 50 strangers the last couple of weeks. 9 out of 10 check their lines almost fully powered up. Never seen this before, but among French riders this seems to be standard procedure. Quite annoying. And even if it was never an issue for me so many failed launches...

Re: Photograph of Table Mountain from kitebeach

Checked my photos from this season and this is the closest I have, sorry. You could crop it to remove the bricks, etc! But the water is not as vibrant. Kiteforum says this is 2.4Mb

Re: Handy tricks you only found after beginner lessons

Learning how to kite solo has immensely increased my enjoyment of kiting as it frees me from depending on others to do downwinders or allows me to kite when my friends are not willing or interested. Practising self-launches on wide-open beaches, and especially drift-launching, in places that are saf...

Re: Kevin Langeree leaving Naish...

But, as this thread and the KOTA show, having Reedin kites prominently featured will lead to some people with the means being willing to try them. I doubt it is 5000 a year though, 500 seems more reasonable. There are several guys with them in Cape Town, most afternoons there are some at Kite Beach ...

Re: Stupid things that always amaze me

Just a little generalizing there, Redsky? We are not all kooks, but sometimes even experienced riders make mistakes. Maybe even a buggy rider?

Re: The craziness is underway in Cape Town

Lovely day today, wind filling in after noon. I launched at Milnerton lighthouse around 2PM and the relatively southerly direction meant the wind was reasonably steady, not too offshore, and the waves clean. 9m and strapless directional were the call and they worked well all the way down. But first ...

Re: Ride engine harness fit, rides up

Can't stand waist harnesses as I don't have a waist. I use a seat harness and board-short harness, the former great for boosting, the latter for surfing. Problem solved!

Re: The craziness is underway in Cape Town

This morning was drizzly and grey after the NW yesterday, but around noon the forecast was vindicated as the SEaster came through and cleaned things out. I did two of my regular downwinders, first on 9m and TT from 1:30 to 3:30 with lots of great jumping as kite beach was deserted, and then again fr...

Very sorry he hurt himself, but at least he had some fun before that. Was that a double megaloop at 0:45!

Re: The craziness is underway in Cape Town

Final day for Ken on 11m and TT, with me on 9m and surfboard, and locals David on 10m and Rory on 12m. Rode at Kite Beach for a while around noon, waited out the lull, and then did a downwinder in the NWesterly to Milnerton lighthouse from 1:30 to 3:30. Lots of fun even though nowhere near the forec...
