Re: Cuba in Nov-Dec

Bob Thanks so much for the info. Yes definitely stay away from swimmers, beach goers and newbies. To be honest I try to stay away from all unknown kiters as you just don't know their abilities... When you say "down by the point" are you refereeing to the south end of Guillermo or somewhere else? Gl...

Re: Cuba in Nov-Dec

Windigo or Justbob I am going to Cayo Guillermo next week. Where do you pay for the Kiteboarding fee? At the resort (I am staying at Sol Cayo Guillermo) or at the school? Also were you charged a fee for your gear on the transfer bus? How much? Was it both ways or just going to the resort? Any other...

Is it $25 per day? per week? per visit?

Re: What makes an attractive Kite destination ?

Thanks for the quick reply. When you say not a beginner spot, what do you mean? Small launch area, rocks, or something else? Do you know any open, kite-friendly, public beach in the north? From what I hear, it looks like there is almost no space to kite on the north side... :( We were there just af...

Re: What makes an attractive Kite destination ?

Hey @MattyRossJa, we plan to come to Jamaican's north shore in the winter between Dec/Jan. I have been reading that the wind is pretty good then. What is your opinion? Can we get some consistent wind? In addition, are most north beaches kite-friendly, or do we need access to private beaches for kit...

Re: landing kite by yourself

Better to do this in the water if you can. On land it could flip or tumble back into the window. Make sure there is nothing
immediately downwind. Do a search on this forum there are lots of good threads covering this topic.

Re: Cuba in Nov-Dec

OK... so I haven't stayed there but I have stayed at the SOL many times. The Muthu is brand new. and sustained some pretty serious damage last falls hurricane (although this is where all the managers of the other resorts hunkered down to brave the storm). It was not open when were were there at Chr...

Re: Cuba in Nov-Dec

Heading to CG in November, have a few questions regarding money. From what I understand I can exchange Canadian to CUC' s at the airport, both coming and going? I also read that I should be tipping in CUC? Do they take Mastercard or Visa anywhere? I'm guessing they don't have many ATM's as well?! I...
