Re: Aluula? New Revolutionary Material from Ocean Rodeo

Also, I just discovered an additional benefit of the aluula kite: teaching! I’m teaching my 11 yr old and results are night and days when he is using the aluula kite. I wish I could post a video of him doing his first tack. But I’m on my phone and can’t figure out how to do it. Anyway, big big diffe...

Re: Aluula? New Revolutionary Material from Ocean Rodeo

After another beautiful morning foiling in long bay (TCI) on the Roam 10m in sub 10knt warm powerless wind (i guess ~8knt). I must say I also think this kite delivers the most performance per square meter of all kites have tried. Including foil kites... i’m blown away every time I fly it... Such a d...

Re: Pocket board building

I'm talking 75kg/m3 - at 25mm it feels really stiff so I would be scared that it would snap - I am still a bit scared to try... The foam I’m getting is 33mm and 80kg/m3 I think. I’ll do a test to see if it snaps when I bend it. Else I’ll use the kerfing technic... I realize using lamination on the ...

Re: Pocket board building

I'm back at it. :D I eventually managed to find 2 pieces of Divinycell foam, 1 inch thick, so I'm planning to use the time this winter to build a couple more pocket boards! I should receive them in the next couple weeks. I already built 2 pockets, using cheap polystiren foam, wood stringers and glas...

Re: Neo 2018 5m back stalling badly

... Basically the kite back stalls horrendously if sheeted more than about half way in. Strangely even with a lot of depower trim it still occurs at about 2/3 full sheeted in. . I would need to check what is the « balance point » when flying the 5m. You mention sheeted halfway is the tipping point ...

Re: Neo 2018 5m back stalling badly

I have Neo 5m 2018. It flies just fine. For sure you can’t fly it like a 10m... but i have used it In strong wind where it is pretty much plug and play... and on foil in « light wind » (~20knt) where you need to fly it more carefully not to backstall it. Check the bridles maybe... That's really int...

Re: Aluula? New Revolutionary Material from Ocean Rodeo

I bought a 12m Flite Gold, flew it in 20 to 25 knot wind. I was not impressed, just okay for boosting, best boost was 12.3m. Felt like a handful, I could feel every gust. The kite did not feel particularly responsive either. Maybe I have it trimmed wrong? Any ideas for improving the performance of ...

Re: Aluula? New Revolutionary Material from Ocean Rodeo

someone was asking about the 10m Leading edge size. I measured on my roam 10m yesterday. About 20cm (~8 inches) measured at the widest point with LE flat on the ground. So circumference should be ~40cm. I don’t have a regular Roam to compare. Another great session yesterday On a foil, with 12-15knt ...
