Re: Boards for light wind

For me it has to be 12 knots average before I bother.
With that wind or a bit more I can easily ride my 850 cm2 foil and 6m Slick.

Re: Boards for light wind

Do you kitefoil, and ride surfboards Tony? I rarely kitefoil these days and almost never ride the surfboard. I don't know that I'll end up with 3 wingboards, probably two ... the 62L Jazz and 80L Flying Dutchman. I have access to DW board demos so I'll probably play around with it this summer but w...

Re: Boards for light wind

There is some good discussion of this in 'The Progression Project' forum. Search for the thread titled 'Shrinked Downwind Boards for Winging' In general, longer and narrower gives you a big advantage in lighter wind. How much volume and low long/narrow will depend on how light wind you want to go as...

Re: Bahia Salinas Costa Rica

I'm headed to Cabarete the end of February for 10 days. Have gone 5 times before, always in the Feb-Apr time and have always been happy. Some years better than other but some years have been 100%, typically 80%, worst year was maybe 60%. I like to go somewhere warm in my winter and DR has been bette...

Re: 2023 Duotone Slick Wing vs Slick D/Lab

I have the 2023 slicks in 3.5, 4.5 and 6.0 and super happy with them. I demo'd the 2023 Unit early on and liked that a lot as well but like the boom more. The only very minor complaint I have is the fat leading size of the 6m hen using in the upper end of the range. Is the Aluula version much thinner?

Re: seaweed issue OBX

Wind direction definitely impacts the weeds. NE or Southerly winds generally seem good. West to NNW have not been good for weeds this fall.
This fall seems worse (to me) than others.
There are ocean side options.

Bonaire for Winging

Searched but not much out there, especially recent Bonaire info.
Any recent experiences in Bonaire?
Lac Bay winging?
Where to stay?

Thanks

Re: Grand Cayman kite foil mast length

No issues with sargassum on our trip. I have no idea what makes sargassum worse or if it's seasonal. Someone local probably needs to explain that.

Re: Grand Cayman kite foil mast length

I was there February 2020 and no issues. I rode 83cm mast and my buddy rode 92cm.
We rode both Barkers and east end.

Re: Comparison Airush Ultra 10m - 8m ultra - 8m Wave kite

I switched from wave kites to the ultra’s after committing to the foil. I love the ultra’s and had a 10 for a while but it’s range was very narrow. Also generated a ton of power from apparent wind. I sold the 10m and my quiver is now 8,6,5. The 10 and up have a deeper draft. I debated 9 or 8 but the...
