Re: Hit a dolphin

Mossy, you could be right. I didn't see what I hit, but I assumed it was a Dolphin because a pod had just passed in front of me and they were still very close by. I know Dolphins have amazing sensory capability, which is why I was so surprised when I crashed. Maybe it wasn't a Dolphin, but was a big...

Hit a dolphin

I saw a few dolphins rolling and thought I was passing well behind them. Either one came back to attack the foil thinking it was a fish, or there was another underwater trailing behind that I couldn’t see. I’m not sure if it was the wing or the mast that hit it, but the board crashed down hard takin...

Re: Anyone swap their bar colors around?

Since I mostly only jump in my natural direction, my lines used to get stretched unevenly. Years ago I started alternating how I connect them. One session will rig red lines to red pigtails, next will go red to blue. That evens out the line stretch. When it’s rigged red to blue (bar upside down/colo...

Re: February Foil Destination - Caribbean

I recently stayed at conched out villa on long bay in Turks. It’s a big house that can sleep 14, we had extended family, 7 adults and seven young kids. I was the only Kiter, and rode all 7 days of the trip directly from the villa. It blew constantly in late July, although it was lighter wind, around...

Re: Wave Priority? My ass!

Toby says “right hand forward has priority, nothing else.” I disagree with the nothing else part. The rule of prudence trumps all other rules, especially in a crowded spot. There will always be people who don’t know, don’t care, or aren’t thinking about right of way rules bc they are busy “surfing” ...

Re: Ring avulsion

Ha ha Toby - the topic is ring avulsion not ring aversion. I got lucky with my wife. In 14 yrs of marriage she hasn’t ever told me not go kiting if it’s windy and always watches the kids so I can go. 😉😍

Ring avulsion

I was playing tennis last night and some unlucky guy on another court severed off his ring finger. He was going for a ball, and reached out his hand into a chain link fence while losing his balance and falling. The ring got caught in the fence and pulled off his finger at the second knuckle. He was ...

Re: Any tips for a heavy and tall beginner ?

Of course you can kite, just go for it. Your size poses no real disadvantage (assuming you have a reasonable level of physical fitness). I’m 190cm and 102 kg. I have 17m,14, and 11m kites, lots of different board sizes for my area that sees a lot of light wind. You’ll find it easier to just switch t...

Re: Zeeko screws to secure rear stabilizer and fin keep loosening

Success. The screws will never loosen by themselves again, and I can still take it apart whenever I want to dissemble for travel or to wash. Installing Inserts was a better option than gluing, and was a really quick job once I had the parts that I needed. Problem no more! I was advised against using...

Re: Torn out inserts on Naish Hover

Nice. Sounds simple enough.
I guess I should have gone with a self tapping insert like you are.
Unfortunately I ordered the helicoil pack already. What kind of issues have you run into with them?
