Re: Why is wingfoiling so popular?

I have spent the best part of the last months by alternating kitesurfing, kitefoiling (Peak5s, the champions of drifting in surf) and winging at the wavespots of Fuerteventura Nord. I don't jump but love carving. My current opinion: When the conditions are top, wind side, side-off over 18kts and wav...

Re: Fuertaventura in April/May

The spots of the North are not "nice shorebreaks", with the exception of El Cotillo, but real wavespots, Flag Beach included. So typically not adapted for high-jumping TTs since they are not able to respect the wave rules, such as priority of riders surfing the wave. For jumping there is a small lag...

Peak5 tangle and relaunch

Here is video about my tangle at Flag Beach, Fuerteventura a couple of days ago. After untangling I have almost succeeded to relaunch when the other foil arrived in my lines... Fortunately, I could return the kite early and kept the leading edge out of water all the time. When everything was cleaned...

Re: Anyone currently living in Tenerife South?

Thanks guys for all the useful info, I’m on my way home now and I managed to fit last session on the day of departure. Had great three sessions during 9 days stay, could have two more but on first two days kids go sick (brought it from cold Europe) so I didn’t want to leave my wife on her own with ...

Re: North launches 2024 Wingfoil Collection

Has anybody information about the differences between the actual Modes and the new Mode Pros? They say in the video that materials have been upgraded but they give numbers only in comparison of traditional materials. The only meaningful information is the supposedly thinner leading edge, but again, ...

Re: Peak 4 Self Rescue

Keep winding the lines on the bar right up to the start of the smallest grey bridle lines and until all the orange and blue lines are on the bar. The kite will pretty much taco itself and you can get the tips together. Hold em up to drain them and then place together and get the bar on the outside ...

Re: Alternative filament materials for stiffening single skin kites

Flapping is a feature, not a bug on my Peak5s, it contributes to the phenomenal drift. Progressing lately with no-hands foilsurfing, in some aspects even better than freefly with a wing.

Re: Lake Effect

This is how the genesis of the monster snowstorm looked like yesterday 19th November from my plane between IND and JFK, flying right over Cleveland around 1PM. The cold wind is blowing from the shore towards the warmer Erie Lake, the thick clouds at the horizon on the right are dumping snow on Buffa...

Re: Flysurfer Peak 4

I disagree about the Peak4 8m, which gets a lot of bad press here. Comparisons against the 5m and 6m (which I haven’t tried) are misguided: those require more wind. If you want to compare, choose a 12-15m closed cell. The 8m is still magic: it’s just a different kind of magic. Don’t forget, there’s...

Re: Gong High Aspect wings

Evidently, speed makes the difference between down-the-line longboard-style foilsurfing and carving turns and jumps on a wave. Waves are rapid beasts, you need already some decent speed to catch up on a good looking one from behind. For me, low surface HA and ultra HA wings are the only way to go :)
