Re: Officially announced: North becomes Duotone

TRUE Kiteboarding, clearly a better choice...Isn't Duotone house or trance EDM? 8)

Duotone is an awful name. Ughh. True would’ve been much better. I guess I’ll be foiling on Duo Monos now

Re: Lost foil - broke off while riding

Damchab, Without any judgement on Matt's case I've simply attempted a few measures to reduce the risk of losing expensive equipment and sharing those with other KF enthusiasts. You have treated me fairly in the past and I appreciate the concern that an open discussion may present to a small enterpri...

Re: Lost foil - broke off while riding

In spite of the misfortune shown by the OP, I'm not sure AF can do much beyond what I've attempted. It's truely unfortunate that the die for the extrusion didn't resolve in more solid material at the fastener but optimally we'd want at least (2) barrel nut & bolts at the top and only (1) to secure t...

Re: Lost foil - broke off while riding

Here's what I've done to reinforce the surface area around the barrel nut & protect the fastener area from further corrosion using JB Weld epoxy P1130519.JPG P1130527.JPG P1130530.JPG P1130539.JPG P1130543.JPG P1130545.JPG P1130549.JPG P1130553.JPG and and a SS cable mast leash is next....

Re: Lost foil - broke off while riding

Slingshotucf, excellent point about the transition edge between the flattened mast and the curved profile. You can see from the post how the fracture follows that edge for a couple inches. I'll be sharing a few "improvements" here but I'd like to hear more about your repair suggestions. For the mome...

Re: Lost foil - broke off while riding

Borist, I collaborated with my engineer colleagues and we think this forensic analysis fits pretty well (see attachments) Fracture A likely happened initially (due to some minimal sidewall thickness in the aluminum mast at the barrel nut and adjacent fault line) Also note the symmetry of the fractur...

Re: Brand new Matrixx 15m (2010)

Sorry for the delay..season's ending here in So Cal and I'll admit to some frustration confirming ALL these lines are properly cleared. So here's my observations as a 1st timer with a foil kite. Once the front edge and intake ports are properly exposed to the wind ("building the wall" as in paraglid...

Brand new Matrixx 15m (2010)

Strangely enough I landed a brand new, never been flown Matrixx kite at a local pawn shop! After watching a few vids, I unrolled it at the beach, bagged the wing tip and attempted to fill it with air... Soooo would a fresh kite be less inclined to fill? (the air-dump zipper was closed) Could the scr...
