Spars Material Comparison

First, I'm not sure where to post this, I think the wiki or info, but I can't find the new post button there. After buying a cheap Chinese knock off the Revolution Power Blast 2-4, and having the middle spar break immediately, I went to the dollar store and found what is probably a SUPERIOR replacem...

Re: Newbie needs help setting up an old 4 line Gaastra bar

Thanks jbdc, I skipped the handles and went right to the depower bridle :-) I agree with your progression and advice, but I'm too impatient to wait to practice my kitesurfing skills :-? My total and primary focus has been to kitesurf, so after finding an awesome beach a mere 6 km from my house and f...

Re: Newbie needs help setting up an old 4 line Gaastra bar

Thanks jbdc, Anata wa nihongo shaberemasuka? I didn't know chindogo but, my Japanese friend explained it to me, my Japanese level is quite low. I have a crude idea of how to do it, but I want more experience, and a safety is paramount in reinvent it. So generally handles are as they appear, simple a...

Re: Newbie needs help setting up an old 4 line Gaastra bar

Ok jbdc, I'm well and thoroughly convinced not matter what, handles will greatly enhance my development at any level, but especially now. And I understand HOW the amazing kite aerobatics are done, handles. I like the strop idea too and think the ultimate solution is for me to reinvent the control ba...

Re: Newbie needs help setting up an old 4 line Gaastra bar

Thanks again jbdc, I thought you were another poster, I appreciate the straight goods and seeing my alternatives. I hadn't really considered handles as I want to take the fastest and cheapest track to kitesurfing. With two lessons under my belt I want to level up my kite flying and birthday dragging...

Re: Newbie needs help setting up an old 4 line Gaastra bar

Thanks again jbdc, Yes, until now the only experience I had setting up mu own kites has been 2 line and Nasa Wing, so I assumed that the control surfaces were the same set up. I have actually set and now flown my Adam once. It was clumsy and lacking the dual line flagging system with 2 rings, which ...

Re: Newbie needs help setting up an old 4 line Gaastra bar

Thanks jbdc and reyrivera, you're awesome!! The images really help, I'm very visual. I went out today and set it up at the river, no wind, but I was happy just to prepare, though flying would have been better. I set the middle lines to the back lines of the kite, and the front to the outside of the ...

Re: Newbie needs help setting up an old 4 line Gaastra bar

Thanks for the ideas edt, The Pansh Adam is actually a 4 line kite. I got one 4.5 m and one 3.5 m for the price of the 4.5m (promotion campaign). I'll be keeping the Nasa kite as I have the setup to use it in "street mode" which allows you to fly it from the bridle on a bar where other kiting would ...
