Re: Naish Pivot vs Core XR or GTS

Two years ago, I switched over from the Naish Pivot to the CoreXR4 and the CoreXR5. At my level, the Core kites give a higher boost and are also much more forgiving of user error. The Core kites also seem to be more stable and have a wider wind range. Also, I had some beginners learning in my family...

Re: Hatteras to get another new bridge......this one sucks.

I have spent extended time on the Outer Banks and there are better alternatives than to build a jug handle bridge in the sound. An elevated roadway near the existing road would be cheaper and cause less overall environmental damage. The outside environmental groups don't want a road through Pea Isla...

proper etiquette

Twice recently I have been approached by other kiters on the beach that wanted to try one of my kites. One was a sponsored kiter who was doing a photo shoot. He didn't have a kite available in the size that I had in my quiver. The other was an inexperienced kiter. In both cases, I said no, but I fel...

Re: Long Island NY

I will be staying in the Morris Park area of the Bronx. I assumed that Long Island is the closet place to kite, but I don't know the area at all.

Long Island NY

Hello,

I am going to be in Long Island this weekend with family, but I am not familiar with the area. The forecast is for NE winds. Does anyone have recommendations for launch spots? We are intermediate level kiters. Thank you.

Re: Tips for my gusty inland lake conditions?

I used to windsurf at Lake Arthur and Yellow Creek State Park quite a bit. Both places were generally gusty for windsurfing, I would think kiting at either place would be quite difficult. Now that I kite, I wait for a good forecast and take a weekend trip to Hatteras.

Re: Pittsburgh PA, Trying to get into Kiteboarding!

I live in the Pittsburgh area and kite. It isn't easy, but I watch the wind forecast and head to Hatteras for the weekend. It is doable if you can schedule your trip as to avoid traffic. Don't go through Washington D.C. and don't attempt to do it on a summer weekend due to vacation traffic.

Re: New bridge for Hatteras Island

I kite frequently in Mirlo Beach. In my opinion, it is one of the best spots in Hatteras to kite. It gets great SW thermals in the summer and it is also superb in NE winds. I have written many letters to NCDOT and have asked other friends to help oppose the bridge in the sound. Unfortunately, it see...

Re: Cape Hatteras in July. Conflicting messages

June and July are my favorite months of the year in Hatteras. It is warm and uncrowded. The launches are mostly empty. If there is a slight sw breeze in the morning, the thermals can be great in the afternoon. It depends on the weather pattern, I have had weeks of solid sw 20+ and weeks with only a ...

jumping abdominal strains

Hello, I am an older guy, 58, learning how to jump. Whenever I do more than a few jumps, my stomach muscles either strain or become too sore for me to do any more. The higher I go, the worse the problem. Is this a technique issue or this just a problem of being out of shape?

Thanks.
