Re: Cape Town Wind statistics on Windfinder

Not sure how much I trust these stats, several of the spots along the Table view bay all have really different stats - I always use "Kite Beach/Cape Town" when I'm there and seems to be the most accurate forecast and its statistics are a little better... Re: Upwind 360 and 180 carves from toeside

There was some good discussion about this on this thread "The Other Tack":

Re: Downwind Technique

We had a client on one of our foiling camps with a 12m Rally and it wasn't an easy kite to keep in the sky in underpowered conditions, so downwind is going to make it even worst. One tip to try when using a heavier kite that requires more input to keep it flying, is to ensure you are already going f...

Re: The

The early foot change version is a cool variation of the toe to heel but it does feel quite different to the normal roll tack. So you are riding heelside, and just as you first start to carve upwind, you quickly do the foot change and then do the main snap of the carve. round to heelside. The roll t...

Re: The

The Toe to Heel tack is my favourite and I could ride and back forth doing them all day! But I did find this the hardest tack to learn - as @jumptheshark says the kite movement is pretty much the same for all the tacks. One small point I'd make on the kite movement that I've been playing with recent...

Re: WtF man. Will I ever learn transitions...?

Lots of good tips on here, no point repeating many of those that I agree with but here are two that I don't think have been mentioned and are really important: Kite power- if you are really powered up you'll struggle as its hard to keep weight on the board/foil consistently. If you are riding in mar...

Re: riding goofy side

A good technique for learning toeside riding on the foil, whether its on your weak side or when initially learning on your stronger side, is to first ride on a broad reach downwind. This allows you ride with the board level (no need to cant it over at all) and the kite nice and high in the wind wind...

Re: Kite Board Hydro Foils available March 2019

Onofoil seem to be a new small brand out of Maui. No experience of them myself but they are posting lots of great foil porn on Instagram of foil ideas they are testing. All looks cool, interested to know if anyone has tried them?

Re: Best hydrofoil board for beginner Volume or thinner?

As I think you can see if you ask any variation on the question "What is the best foil/board/kite for a beginner/intermediate/advanced/racer" you will get positive and negatives for every possible option! Hydrofoiling is very personal discipline mainly because we all have very different backgrounds ...

Kitefoiling Gybes - Preview for the Upcoming How-to videos

I'm working on a new series of videos for teaching the full kitefoiling gybe - carving turns, riding toeside and the foot change. Lots of people have been asking when they'll be available so I made this preview video to explain how production is coming along, some of the complexities of trying to te...
