Re: Stop this thing

All of this will become easier over time. In the meantime use a pissant small kite so you have to work it to get up to speed. Want to slow down? let the bar out and dont work it. That will give you Zero death runs. I sort of disagree that running constantly underpowered helps initial progression......

Re: Stop this thing

just bring the kite back to 12 it will slow you down.. and yes you can ride downwind a bit to lose extra tension while you fixing your kite position

Re: Self launch and self land option

I think everyone here understands back stalling and flagging techniques already.. They work fine in moderate winds.
What I would want to see is some youtube video of a guy self-landing it really jacked.. Like having a couple of 12-15m jumps and then landing the kite gracefully... 8)

Re: Self launch and self land option

you can try regular tethered landing method in high winds.. but it requires a lot of timing to be done right.. Basically, you hook the chicken loop to an anchor while kite is at 11 or 1 (the angle really depends on the kite/size) and let it lower by itself while you run to it and grab it.. Obviously...

Re: Drone foiling?

Lift eFoil - $12,000 USD Found it. The video description says it's a Freestyle Systems Alta 8, here's their web store. It's $17,495. https://store.freeflysystems.com/products/freefly-alta8?variant=18143711559 So $12,000 is sounding pretty affordable in comparison. I'm not a drone expert, but here's...

Re: (How not to?) Deal with 40 kt.+ sudden winds

I am concerned about one video currently, one with the remarkable title: "Kitesurfing: Wind Storm 40+ Knots - How To Stay Safe If Overpowered" without emphasizing "killing" the kite power. Look, I am not sure why we are going in circles on this.. This is not an introductory kiting tutorial. It's mo...

Re: (How not to?) Deal with 40 kt.+ sudden winds

Not sure if you saw other Anton's videos. He has very nice tutorials on boosting big and looping. Part of boosting big is rigging very powered for given conditions. Part of rigging big is that occasionally you get overpowered, tea-bagged when stronger than usual gust comes in.. Not so uncommon in 40...

Re: (How not to?) Deal with 40 kt.+ sudden winds

Won't a flagged-out kite , used for self rescue ; pull Ya through that current, your talking about , in a 40 , or even a 15 ? ----------------------- (yes) Don't they make auto/self inflatable PFD's , that create almost NO drag , (when not inflated) ? -----------------------------------------------...

Re: (How not to?) Deal with 40 kt.+ sudden winds

Kiters should stay within the distance from shore they are able to swim in from. Wearing a flotation aid, impact vest is a good idea. I can swim many miles and for most of a day but I have worn an impact vest for the last 20 years while kiting. It is a no brainer. Sure man, keep drinking your kool-...

Re: We need area labels for hydrofoil wings

People talk about their 590 wings, their 633 wing, their surf wings, their lift wings etc. This is proprietary labeling by the manufacturer that tells us little. How would you like it if kite manufacturers labelled their kites with a span measurement or descriptions such as "freestyle" and never me...
