Re: Disadvantages of larger foil wings?

I’m mainly into surf, general cruising, and freeriding so for me the only disadvantage to big wings is that at some point they generate too much lift and become difficult to handle when very powered. I weigh 75 kg (165 lbs) and always foil with the smallest kite possible. I spent the last year on th...

Re: Why not more canards ?

What is it you reckon that allowed your progression again? Do you think it's the canard geometry that was limiting you, or mostly the fact that your S24 is significantly bigger? (1126cm2 vs 800cm2 for the XLW) When I put the bigger XXLW wings, most of the things were initially easier due to extra l...

Re: Why not more canards ?

I’m 3 years into foiling. I spend half my time in waves and the other half in flat water. I started on a Zeeko Black and White and then switched to the Zeeko Carver wing. A year into foiling I switched to the Spitfire with standard and XLW wings. I really liked the Spitfire but hit a wall as far as ...

Re: Cabrinha Apollo

I’ve been riding the 2017 7m Apollo in our flat water slicks on a twintip for the last few months. I’m really liking this kite for big air and gusty winds. I figured the kite would jump well but I am surprised how wells it turns. I’m 165 lbs (75 kg) and ride the 7m from 20 mph to 40 mph. Pretty much...

Re: starting on duck tack to toeside

What helps me with this tack is leaning into my chicken loop line. If my chest is touching my chicken loop line during the tack I normally have a good tack.

I’ve been riding my 42” Kanaha Shapes board for 7 months now and really enjoying it. Definitely worth a look.

I haven’t ridden the Onda but I’m really enjoying my Cloud 9 S24. They are on sale for $1099. Definitely worth a look.

Re: Getting out through a shore break dump with a foil

The two things that make this easier for me are a low volume board and a big wing. Much easier to duck under the shore break with a low volume board and easier to to do a flying start with a big wing once there is a break in the waves. Last one is timing the set waves and heading out during a lull i...
