Re: Line length, gybing and down-looping

Humm, maybe with a big board that is possible but with the race Board if I touch the water in marginal wind there is a big chance I'm swimming. Without having your feet on the ground it's very hard to fly a 21m kite in anything lower than 5-6 knots, and my r1v2 21m it's the most stable kite I have. ...

Re: Line length, gybing and down-looping

"Many racers only do tacks in this wind, for the same reason." -> I feel exactly the opposite, the wind will become so low that im not able to tack anymore (if i do i wont have enough exit speed, ill touch down, sink and drop my kite), but i still can jibe (barely, but not touching down). Ive heard ...

Re: Line length, gybing and down-looping

Racers dont point upwind in marginal winds to jibe, they point abit less downwind, maybe to a reach angle if really low. Problem with longer lines and passing the kite overhead are the angles, you often need to point alot higher upwind to do this, and also on the exit you need to point more upwind a...

Re: flying foot switch - advice needed

My last post on this thread was from August 2018. I was injured shortly after that, and I had to take about 4½ months off from kiting. I’ve been back on the water for about a month and a half. Since I’ve been back, I’ve been foiling exclusively with underpowered LEI kites, which is my preference. I...

Re: riding goofy side

hi wondering if its a known issue of being "anti ambidextrous"? I can gybe and do surface foot switches on my good side but I have no hope of even riding toeside on my goofy side. It certainly feels like my brain just says 'no' to that. When attempting to ride toeside on my goofy side my hips just ...

Re: Best pumping foil?

Rider is towed to 10knots and released. This requirement will skew the results, there is no need to go that fast. I would bet the current record for distance for "normal" foils (not aquaskipper etc) would be the biplane wing that Horue made for this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JS9pQStSDtw...

Re: Air gibes in marginal winds

Not sure how much wind you are talking about, but in around 4-5 knots we can go on a 21m kite with the race wings, stall starting the foil kite , you need to be able to start gliding with a single pull of the kite in the powerzone. After you are on the foil if you dont mess up i guess the wind can g...
