Re: Audi e-foil

Will probably run on Diesel fuel  The Audi cheaters can only think in Diesel terms. Everything else is evil / bad / impossible. I´m German and I feel deeply ashamed and angry for / about this bunch of criminal idiots  :angryfire: Please, everyone, never ever buy a product from Volkswagen ...

Re: Cold Water Riding Guide

"breathable" material is relative in winter conditions on the water... As soon as the outside temperature is way below inside temperature (inside the drysuit), no water vapor can diffuse from inside to outside = zero breathability This is thermodynamics. And I experienced exactly this with my drysui...

Re: Harness with Sliding spreader bar

Best I´ve ever experienced is: Carbon spreader bar (rideengine 2016 model) with rope plus a Ronstan Orbit 20 block connected to a Cabrinha Fireball Bar´s QR (without the original Fireball piece). Totally friction-less, super-smooth movement with minimal distance between the rope and the quick releas...

Re: Accident at Kite Beach, Bloubergstrand, South Africa

I´ve been in CPT before Christmas. Used a cheap "Euro-Style" short-leged 3 mm ("Overknee"). Which was fine one day. The other day I froze my ass off... Problem in Cape Town is the so-called upwelling of cold water from deep sea levels to the surface, which is caused by strong and persistent off-shor...

Re: Fatality in France

Absolutely! By far the biggest danger is strong / gale force wind! My impression is that this factor is heavily underestimated by many, especially younger and very experienced kiters. In 30+ kts the result of even minor mistakes of pilot or material are easily fatal with no time for proper reaction....

Re: What is kitesurfing for you? This it is for me

Guys! Great topic! This brilliant vid from HB Surfkite sums up a lot for me (words by C. Bukowsky - so fitting :thumb: ) https://vimeo.com/99810517 https://vimeo.com/99810517 "If you´re doing it for money, or fame - don´t do it. ... Re: Wetsuit recommendation Cape Town Nov/Dec?

Thanks guys!
I´ve purchased that "Euro-style" suit with cut-off lower legs, just covering the knees.
If water temp would drop far below 15 °C, I´ll buy another suit locally.

Looking so much forward to return to Cape Town!

Re: some proper Wave foiling with a Kite

Crazy :o
Very impressing! My deepest respect.
However, it doesn´t really look like a lot of fun. More more like stress...
In such perfect waves, I think waveboards make more sense. In case of missing wind, go for SUP / prone surfing.

Re: Wetsuit recommendation Cape Town Nov/Dec?

9 °C seriously?
All I can find is long-term statistics claiming a minimum of around 16 °C for Nov/Dec. Claimed to be measured values from satellites (NOAA).
Do these upwellings happen at this time of the year already? Or more regularly in high-summer?

Thanks :bye:

Wetsuit recommendation Cape Town Nov/Dec?

Hi all, I´ll be in Cape Town last week of Nov & first week of Dec and like to get your recommendations for a sensible wetsuit choice. Air is very warm (25 °C), sun intense, water is cool (15-17 °C). I´d go for a 4/3 mm Overknee with long sleeves. What do you think? I´m not the "being cold easily" ty...
